Finally

I knew there was a battle going on. I knew that there was a better time and place for this. As soon as Ron said those words, though, I couldn’t help but kiss him. He’d been so brave for so long. So many years he had spent by my side in every battle, in every fight and worry and homework assignment. I don’t know what had taken me so long to admit these feelings to even myself, but once they were out there was no coming back from them.

He kissed me with equal passion and excitement. It seemed like we both had forgotten about the fighting going on right around us. The explosions and crashes were just background noise; they were the fireworks to our first kiss. Not even Harry’s shout could bring us out of this sudden bubble we were surrounded by. Not until he reminded us that there was a war.

The goofy smile on Ron’s face only confirmed what I’d been thinking; he had been waiting for that moment as long as I had. And he had enjoyed it just as much, too.
