In less than 36 hours after its release,
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 shattered a
second box-office record, this time the one day box office sales in the U.S. and Canada, taking in $92.1 million on Friday, its opening day.
The previous one-day box office holder domestically was the second installment in
The Twilight Saga,
New Moon, which took in $72.7 million over a year ago. The film made an additional $82.5 million internationally just through Thursday evening sales. The finale's next target is the weekend domestic box office record, currently held by 2008's
The Dark Knight, which brought in $158.4 million three summers ago. We will have full weekend box-office numbers, both domestic and international, by Sunday.
