If it took to be sliiightly rude to get her off, let it be. He was't afraid of talking what was on his mind anymore to her.
Letting out a sigh again, an exhausted one this time, he eyed her and said "Why do you want me to explain anything? You got everything sorted out with that 'friend' of yours--that I talked badly of you in the first place. Now, leave me alone." Pssh, why bother explaining that he did not say such a degrading thing if she was that prejudicial even at the beginning?
Did he just call her FAT?!
He just kept digging himself into a deeper hole here.
"I don't think I can get up. I'm way too fat to move now." She said sarcastically as she bounced a little on his legs. Gee, how
did she make it around the castle every day. If he wanted her off his legs then he would just have to move her himself now.
And
still he refuses to defend himself here.
"I thought maybe you might want to tell me your side of the story. You know, tell me what you really said." As much as she believed what Carter told her, she knew there were two sides to every story.
"I guess I was wrong though. I guess it's hard for you to tell your side when you can't think of a lie to tell me." She had really hoped that Carter had been wrong, that Evan hadn't said those things about her. But Evan's silence about it... again, was enough to convince her that Carter had been right all along.
Getting up off his legs she looked down at him.
"I guess our friendship doesn't mean enough to you to try and save it." She was beginning to wonder if they had ever been friends now.
"I'm sorry I ever bothered you but don't worry, I won't bother you anymore. I have plenty of other friends Evan, I don't need a friend who is just going to bad mouth me and then not even explain to me why they did it."
Heading back towards the stairs to her dorm room she didn't even bother looking back at him. Why should she when it was obvious that he didn't want to be her friend anymore.
