So he didn't want to write poetry. Big deal. Now that was an EASY and KIND detention compared to what Jacob could have faced at the hands of other professors.

"Wading through a river of piranhas is out of the question," Vindictus began. "However, I think that the punishment of writing poetry is just because you despise it. Professor Lainey would agree with me on this matter if she were here but she isn't."

Pause.

He pulled something out of his pocket and held it up between his right thumb and middle finger.

It was the Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain's badge.

"Failure to write the poem in a heartfelt manner will result in this going to someone else. Do I make myself clear?"

While waiting for Jacob to reply, Vindictus directed a question to Seren.

"Professor Bentley, can Mr. Blunt write his poem in the form of haiku?"
