However, it became very clear to Kurumi that Selina was talking on a much deeper level than the weather. "Not all tears are evil, Selina. There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love...friendship too."

Kurumi's attention was then drawn towards Professor Bishop who had dismissed class. Nodding towards the woman before looking back at Selina, Kurumi grabbed her books and placed them back in her leather bag and slung it over her shoulder. "I'll meet you at Professor Bishop's office," Kurumi whispered after casting Scourgify on her bowl. "I need to grab something in the common room first."

Kurumi then returned her bowl to where she had gotten it and rushed up to Professor Bishop. "Thank you for the lesson, Professor," she smiled with a slight bow. "I-I'll stop by your office with Selina soon."

With that, Kurumi made her way out the door, giggling as she did having spotted Eino trying to make an exit through the cupboard.

The entire description was fascinating, as most of it seemed more like regurgitation of what had been on the list rather than a true analysis and interpretation, but then, Zara was young. She had time to learn the methods. “Circles would most likely be the first to appear,” she agreed, “But you seem to have kept up with the changes.” Until the mysterious rectangle incident. The intent of the statement the girl had made hadn’t slipped past her, though. “The meanings don’t change when the symbols do. They clarify. You could argue that your reading actually was telling you that you had a new beginning, like coming to Hogwarts. And you’re your path is uncertain, unexpected. Going with that, I’d say the rectangle might in fact be a sort of doorway. Leading to your new path in life, as a witch.”

Of course, that was only her own interpretation of what the symbols could all mean, and had only been made to explain how the changing symbols don’t nullify each others’ meanings. Zara would have to try and understand it all on her own, as well as make her own choices, to have any of it actually make sense in the long run. That was her whole reasoning for having them all try their own readings. It was true she could make them for everyone, in her own way, but that wouldn’t teach them.

As she had that thought, Renée looked up as she heard Evelyn speak, and a smile flickered across her face. She hadn’t even really expected the Slytherin to truly try to do a reading, as she’d noticed her attention on Josh previously, but even so, the conclusion was amusing. Walking over to the sixth year’s table, she glanced at the bowl before looking at Evelyn herself. “I doubt it’s broken, but perhaps the meaning is just eluding you,” she replied, tapping her finger on the list in front of Evelyn. “Synchronicity is an interesting possibility, after all. Coincidences having meaning.” It made her wonder if anyone else had found an hourglass in their readings, at least. Even if she wasn’t there to discuss psychology, or philosophy. She wasn’t about to make Evelyn think, since it seemed that was the girl’s true problem with the reading.

In fact, that seemed to be a good reason to let them all wind things down, and she moved away from the Slytherin to head back to her own table before facing everyone again. “Okay, I think this is as good a time as any to bring things to a close. “I’m sure a lot of you have found some interesting things out, both in your readings and simply about the process of elaeomancy. Not to mention the elusiveness of symbols,” she said with a little grin. She knew there were at least a few who hadn’t exactly liked the given possible meanings for what they’d seen, not in the least Evelyn. In a way, it cemented her idea for the homework assignment. “Class is dismissed. Feel free to finish things up if you haven’t, or you’d like to, but other than that, I hope you have an amazing rest of your day. The homework assignment will be posted outside my office shortly.” And at those words, she took a seat again, ready to wait for everyone to clear out so she could gather everything together again and clean it all up. She also had a feeling she’d be hearing from Selina or Kurumi soon, as well, which gave her another reason to get them all to finish things up.

Selina turned away when Kurumi began to talk. She covered her face with her red hair in an attempt to hide herself. Kurumi was right. That much Selina knew. But it was easier to avoid something than confront it. If she just hid away and never confronted the truth it could never hurt her. She would never have to face her lonely childhood, her curse that controlled her life, her dead sister and the circumstances of her death. It was just easier to push it under all of her strength and pretend it didn't exist. Because if she confronted it her world would crumble.

When she turned back around to look at Kurumi she had gone. She had said something that was along the lines of meeting her at Bishops. So Selina stood up and collected her things. Once she had her things in order Selina walked up to Bishop's desk with empty eyes, "Thank you for the lesson ma'am. I'll, um see you later..."
