"I-I-I don't know what you are talking about..."
Kurumi grabbed the bowl and forced it towards herself, spilling a little of its contents over the sides and wetting the table again. Now the shape had changed from a duck to...a parasol? "You don't suppose those little floating bits of oil around it are supposed to be rain...do you?"
Her cheeks were still burning hot. Selina knew how to push her buttons alright.
Selina laughed a little at Kurumi's sudden blush. Her small comment had made very much an impact. She knew it would. And later, when they were all done with Selina's impending death, she would confront her friend about that whole ordeal. After Adam had left she thought Kurumi was going to be single for a while. Now this new boy, his over exuberant feelings and all, was definitely affecting Kurumi in some way. It was her job to find out exactly in what way.
She was slightly bemused when Kurumi made up some nonsense about the oil in the basin. To humor her friend she looked down at the oil and commented, "I don't know. It looks a little bit like tears to me. Rain has a more uniform shape. Tears are the outburst of emotion so they never really have any time to conform. Besides that would defeat the whole purpose of tears. We cry when we don't want to face the conformity of social standards. We cry because we are hurt by how insignificant we seem in the whole grande scheme of things. That maybe our lives never mattered at all..." Maybe that was more of a reflection of how Selina was feeling at the moment... not the oil.
