When the Hufflepuff prefect mentioned not following the family steps, Lachlan nodded. He was aware that most people had a choice when it came to choosing what they wanted to do with their lives, but he hadn't had much of one; well, he supposed he had, but it wasn't exactly common for a MacFusty to simply opt for a career that didn't benefit the family business--though most would call it tradition--in one way or another. "What position did you play?" He was quite short, so perhaps seeker? Either way, definitely not a beater. "I wasn't much of a flyer myself, back then." Still wasn't. But there was no need to add that.

There was another knock on the door and Lachlan wondered, really, what was it with students visiting professors. When he'd been a student himself, the only places he interacted with his own teachers was in class. His friends had been the same, too. "Oh," Something the other professor had done? "What did professor Saylen decide last year, Mister Lockhart?"

...And he should go and check who was waiting outside. Giving Treyen a small smile, Lachlan moved swiftly towards the window and peeked in. Oh. Just another Hufflepuff. They were awfully friendly, apparently.

Mmmhmm. Nod. The Arrows are good. He was earning a spot on the list of cool people of Hogwarts...and then mentioned THREE teams and never made the list.

MacFuzzy was like Ellie, they'd so get along. Even more since they had two teams in common, no? But instead of arguing with the man, no, no, scratch that, he was still arguing a little, never mind that he was a Professor and all, "How come is not ONE team?" he said, eying the man.

Quidditch was a fair topic to discuss with this one, it would've been a GOOD one if he'd only mentioned ONE team, but whatever. "Keeper," he said, with one nod, "And I subbed for the Seeker once, but mostly Keeper," his sister was the Beater, and his dad always welcomed the Chaser position, all they needed is a Seeker...but wasn't Gilderoy one during his time at Hogwarts, eh?

Okay. He got a little nervous after the man asked about Saylen, but managed a smile after Treyen extended his hand to him, "It's some sort of a permission note," not to wander around the Restricted Section at the Library, of course, a different kind of permission, or rather...qualification.

To whomever it may concern,

Mister Treyen Lockhart, of Hufflepuff House, came to me in regards of the possibility of keeping the creature, a Niffler, he had been taking care of during the school term of '74.

During the school year, Mister Lockhart has been proving that caring for the Niffler has been a manageable task, and it is clear he has a passion for creatures and their well being. Mister Lockhart has not been afraid to ask for more information about the creature, or guidelines about them, and that is one of his more stronger suits.

It is therefore that I, Maya Saylen, previous Care of Magical Creatures Professor, hereby assert that Mister Lockhart is a suitable and responsible caretaker of his pet Niffler. I am sure that by the time he graduates, he will have learnt further knowledge of Nifflers and how to make sure they are properly taken care of in his own home - specially how to keep them away from the eyes of Muggles and other possible malignant forces.

Hope you take this into consideration, and Mister Lockharts willingness to be a magnificent caregiver.

Sincerely,
Maya Saylen - 2072-2074 Care of Magical Creatures Professor

OOC: the post.

So, yeah, Aslan was his. And if Aslan was gone, then he still had the permission for any Niffler on the grounds, yes? He just...wanted Aslan, it reminded him so much of Saylen.

Now, where had HE put the lovely Mango Lady...

Before he could investigate further, he was back on the floor with his stubby legs holding him up. Well, at least he wasn't dangling anymore. THAT was a bonus. That, and the mad had addressed him properly.

Yes, YOU, Mr. non-Mango Man could sleep well knowing that this cat would not be peeing in your shoes anytime soon.

Kurumi sprinted down from the castle knowing that this was the only place she hadn't checked yet. Why was it that the thing you are looking for was always in the last place you looked? Oh, that's right...BECAUSE YOU STOPPED LOOKING AFTER YOU FOUND IT! So of course it would be in the last place you looked because you didn't need to look anymore.

She was going to strangle the cat for making her over think such such an innocent saying. No fish cookies for him for at least a week the rest of the day.

Marching right up to the hut, Kurumi heard Treyen's voice inside and leaned her ear against the door just in time to hear Professor MacFusty say something about King of the Gryffindors.

Not waiting a moment longer, Kurumi threw open the door and was just in time to see Walnut about to jump onto Treyen's lap.

"WALNUT!" she scolded marching up to the cat, promptly picking him up, and cradling him in her arms. "I'm so s-s-sorry!" she stammered bowing to the professor. "I-I hope he didn't cause any trouble. H-He has been running off a lot recently." And peeing in people's shoes...but she didn't really want to get into that.

Truth be told, Treyen was completely ready to take hold of Walnut. It's not like he minded him at all. But then Kurumi begged to differ.

He smiled at her and simply said, "Not at all, he was being a good guy," seriously, if he'd somewhat attacked MacFuzzy, it was all MacFuzzy's fault for treating Walnut like any other cat, when in fact, he wasn't like any other cat, he was Kurumi's cat. BIG difference.
