A letter home? Merlin, that reminded her, she probably needed to write one to her mum. She hadn't sent once since she arrived at Hogwarts - which wasn't that long ago, but she liked to keep in touch with her mum and, yeah, her aunt too. Sometimes.
"Yeah, I was heading down to the Great Hall," Vashti replied. "It-" was almost dinner time and of course she was going down early to eat - but she didn't get to finish her sentence because right then a girl she didn't know randomly came up, claiming Anakin had ignored her on the train, while seeming to ignore Vashti at the same time. Hmm?
She glanced at Anakin, waiting to see how he would handle it. And then she stared when he all but admitted that he was deaf. To, who she assumed, was pretty much a stranger. Considering how reluctant he'd be about a year ago to admit it to her, she supposed this was...what? Progress? Impressive? Something like that, sure.
Vashti offered a smile to the girl as Anakin introduced her as well as himself, but continued her silence as she waited for the girl to reply.
Anakin grinned slightly, placing his writing stuff into his bag and placing it over his shoulder,
"Great Hall, eh? Dinner time yeah, mind if I join you?" Though...there was cause to wait for now, he couldn't just off and leave the girl, Ripley he believed she said her name was, and run off 'ignoring her again'.
If he did that, this time it wouldn't be because of his problem. It'd be because he was just a jerk. And Anakin didn't like that idea. Not one bit.
Anakin turned his attention back to the blonde, flashing Vash a quick small apologetic smile. He wasn't entirely pleased she had been ignored right off the bat, but who was he to criticize?
Anakin turned with a smile, but it slipped when he read what she had said. She had a sister that was deaf? Really?
"Don't worry. And I'm sorry about your sister." He knew it sucked, a lot.
Anakin shifted the bag on his shoulder a little more, and offered his hand in greeting.
"Pleasure to meet you Ripley. That's a cool name."
