Smiling softly, it occurred to him that it was high time that he reread some of Shakespeare's plays and some of the fairy tales by Beedle the Bard. He hadn't read Shakespeare since his early teens possibly because bloody Macbeth had terrified him out of his wits as a thirteen-year-old and he hadn't read or listened to his mum read Beedle's work to him since he had been a small child.
"Will do." He nodded, making a mental note. Maybe Hogwarts, A History would have information on how to fight the tree as well, just in case a certain nervous Ravenclaw was ever thrown into a sticky situation with the Whomping Willow? "Haha, agitating it would be the last thing on my mind. Unless I turned suicidal, or something." A few seconds of silence passed as his morbid joke fell flat. Clearing his throat, he was glad that Ellie had ignited a change of subject. "Yeah! I used to beat my dad at it all of the time. I also like gobstones, too... although it can get a bit disgusting at times." The ink that squirted out of the stones was so revolting that the sixth year supposed that it was fermented troll dung. "Oh, that reminds me... I've been meaning to ask if Hogwarts has any clubs for that kind of thing. Gobstones, chess, anything?" He was itching to get involved.
In all honesty, even though they were talking about Shakespeare, Ellie's thoughts went to Beedle the Bard first and his many tales. But she nodded when Theo said Shakespeare. She'd never heard him called that before; she just read the plays.
"I love Shakespeare, too. His plays are fantastic, though many of the most famous are quite dark." She said with a little frown. Sad? Yes, but very intriguing nonetheless.
Ellie looked at him sideways and laughed a little awkwardly.
"Well I certainly hope you don't go suicidal, Theo. It would be a tragic loss." Heh. And Ellie would have to use her crazy awesome Whomping Willow super powers to save his life, just like she did with Hyun. 'Cause she was
that awesome. The brunette beamed when the boy said he loved chess.
"Really? We may have to play in the common room sometime, I'm always looking for a good competition." She said with a mischievous smile. Ah, yes. Gobstones.
"Mm, I never got into that game. I'm not to fond of the squirting ink." Ellie said with a light laugh. And it just seemed a tad boring to her.
"Yeah! There's actually a gobstones club. I don't know when they meet or if it's already started, but lots of people love it." She said with a nod.
