Lachlan scratched the back of his head at Rosamund's words, and couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow. His own, private answer had been 'secret,' and that in his own mind made a lot of sense. He was not about to get in the middle of an argument with a sphinx, however, and instead walked to the middle of the group of students and placed both boxes, filled with cauldron cakes and chocolate frogs, in the middle. "Help yourselves with these." He... didn't like sweets. Best to give them to the kids than to have to throw them all out. "After you do, you are free to go. Homework will be posted later today." MacFusty cleared his throat, and took several steps back until he was standing next to his stool. "Class dismissed!"

OOC: Homework will be posted later tonight. Really. ^__^ Thanks for playing along, folks!

Lachlan's head tilted to one side at Evelyn's guess. A portkey indeed made a whole lot of sense, but was it the answer...? "Rosamund?"

Rosamund smiled a cheshire smile. "No."

Rosamund's sole response was an artful roll of her large eyes, while Professor MacFusty had to cough and pat his chest in order to hide to several chuckles attempting to come out of him.

A drunk man.

"No, Jacob," MacFusty said at last. "But I like the reasoning behind your answer." Mostly, he liked that it made him laugh. "Here," Lachlan said, offering the Ravenclaw captain a cauldron cake when he reached him. "Have a cauldron cake."

"But Broomsticks not always go round and round in circles," Lachlan pointed out, as he returned to his stool.

Yeah, he wouldn't be standing up again. If they wanted chocolate frogs or cauldron cakes, they'd have to come get them.

"No," Rosamund answered to the young Gryffindor, and wondering why were the Gryffindors the seemingly smart ones, as opposed to the Ravenclaws. She had heard that the members of the house of Rowena needed to answer a riddle in order to reach their chambers, and yet none of them had gotten hers right.

Rosamund wondered just how often the Ravenclaws slept in their own beds. "But that is a good answer. Professor, I believe this one, too, deserves, a.... one of those things."

They looked revolting.

Lachlan picked up both boxes from the floor and said, [b]"Selina? Chocolate frogs or Cauldron Cakes?" Also, she would have to stand up. He wasn't doing that anymore.

An egg would have made sense, except that, "But wouldn't an egg's complaint come in the form of it breaking when it bumped against something?"

Rosamund let the girl talked until she seemed to have no more to say. When she smiled, the sphinx's smile was almost friendly. "Are you sure you are not part Sphinx?" This was a complete, of course. [b]"You are not, however, correct."

Some loud child was not only giving him a nickname he'd not approved of, but also balancing on the paddock's fence. Lovely. "Patterson! Accidents. Accidents could happen if she didn't get away from that fence, and the last thing he wanted was an injured kid during his first class. Get off that fence at once and come here." To get a cauldron cake or a chocolate frog, because if Rosie's smile was any indication, Lulu Patterson had the correct answer.

It had taken the students a slightly prolonged amount of time, this time, to come up with the correct answer. She smiled again, feeling her confidence grow more than, truthfully, it should.

"There are four brothers in the world that were all born together;
the first, he runs and never wearies,
the second, he eats and never fills
the third, he drinks but remains thirsty
and the fourth, he sings a song that is never good.
Who are they?"

Selina smiled at the answer to her answer. Although she was not right in her answer to the riddle both the Professor and Rosamund seemed to think it a valid point. Her Professor then went to the floor and picked up a box of chocolate frogs and cauldron cakes. As he asked her which she wanted the answer came so easily to Selina, "Caludron cake, sir." After her experience with chocolate frogs last term in Charms, Selina was good in the chocolate frog department for another twenty years.

She stood up and took a cake from the box he held up. She munched on this for the duration of the lesson and listened to the rest of the class participate in the riddles. Once the final answer was given, or stuttered in some cases, class was dismissed. Selina jumped down from her seat and exited the classroom. Before she left she thanked her teacher and smiled at the sphinx, "Thanks for the great lesson, both of you."
