She was sure the girl would figure it out on her own. Making her way back up to the front of the room, "Right. So as I've just had you practice the process of transferring letters to numbers and thus to discover the numerical value of words and sentences, you're probably all wondering why or what is the meaning of this?" She paused, letting this sink in. "Honestly, compared to some of the other numbers we've calculated or WILL calculate in the future, there isn't much meaning to this so much as symbolism." Okay kids, throw stuff. Do it. Josephina could see it on their faces that they probably wanted to. "Paragrams are more about symmetry, for instance, poetry with all lines having the same sum and construction of parallel passages. Some of you probably noticed during your calculations that some of your words ended up with the same values. That is exactly the kind of symmetry I'm talking about!" Hmm. Complicated much? It was about to get more so. "Any questions?" She asked, glancing around the room. Because if they were all as beat as she was from the numbers, then she was game for assigning the homework and that was it. Noticing yet another error in her work, Rebecca crossed out the error and put the correct answer next to it. Then she recalculated the total, crossed out the wrong one, and wrote the correct answer next to it. "Professor," Rebecca started. "I'm wondering, if the lines have the same sum but not the same numbers or length, are they still parallel?" The first year wanted to learn everything she could so that she could pass her tests and exams. "Professor Hadley," Rebecca started. "On the homework, do we have to reduce?"
