She also noticed the instructions on the blackboard, but something else caught her attention. "Is this... a Sphinx?" She read a lot about them! And this one was... fascinating! The first student to arrive seemed far too stunned by the mere sight of Rosie to even write her name on a parchment. Lachlan nodded as greeting, with a small smile, and said, "Indeed it is. And you are...?" For the Sphinx whose name appeared to be Rosie, the student may as well not been there. She refused to acknowledge anyone who did not directly and truly acknowledged her first. What in Merlin's pyjama's was that?
Steadying his walk towards the professor, Jamie took a breath and smiled. Animals could smell fear, right? It looked angry, which wasn't good. "Hello, professor." He quietly said, not looking at the creature. Looks like Jamie had to broaden his idea of magical creatures, and not just simply class them as harmless Crups and Kneazles. The fear was clear in the young Slytherin's face, but he seemed to be doing his best to hide it and at the same time, calm down. Lachlan instantly knew he liked the boy, and it had nothing to do with the fact that the student belong to MacFusty's former house. Not entirely, in any case.
Ahem. "Hi, there. And your name is...?" Rosie remained silent, but may have done some sort of huffing sound, a sign of clear annoyance.
Cheeky humans. She did not like to be ignored. Quote:

Because who doesn't like fluffy and cute?
Lola Jones hoped for fluffy and cute.
She went to the hut already, glancing at the announcement on the hut. No yelling? No gasping? No pointing fingers? What if it was an EXTREMELY cute creature? But no, the girl took the instructions seriously and she composed herself from yelling or screaming or having a fit over the extreme possible fluffiness she would have faced. The girl took instructions as a script; there were always instructions on how to play a part--would she scream, look scared?--in this case, she would have to remain cool. Take a chill-pill.
She finally arrived at class, and her eyes were met by a... it was like a lion. BUT IT WASN'T! The girl had never seen anything like this before. The mane looked fluffy, but she was more focused on the sphinx's face. Almost human. Was it a human head? She opened her mouth--WAIT, NO GASPS, and so she just stood there. "She's beaaaaaaaaaaaautiful," she sang and bowed to the sphinx.
Lola waved towards the Professor a 'hello' and then went to take out a parchment and quill. Eeee. Quills. She wanted to test out her fancy quill she bought from Diagon Alley. Fishing out his wand, Professor MacFusty used it to pin the parchment with the girl's name and year to her robes. "Hello to you as well, Miss Jones. Miss Jones, who by the sign of , was already one of Rosie's favourites. Rosie positiviely, preened, and may have flashed a small, albeit brilliant smile for the polite Slytherin girl. Quote:

Upon arriving at the paddock, the thought was wiped from her mind. There was a sphinx. A real life sphinx.
GASP.
After staring at it for quite a while, Ellie finally tore her eyes from the beast and allowed them to take in the...professor? "Are you..." The new professor? Filling in for the evilish woman?
And to the sphinx, "Hiii pretty sphinx." Wouldn't want to be RUDE or anything, right? "--The new professor, yes. It's nice to meet you, miss." Or at least he hoped. He also hoped she'd supply him her name, for at her shock of having spotted Rosie, the girl seemed to have forgotten to read the instructions.
Rosie wasn't pretty. She was glorious. She was majestic. She was beautiful enough to deserve an entire synonym of the word Beautiful to be created after her. To look at her was not enough--Staring was the right way to do it.
And yet, yet the girl had referred to her as Pretty. What was she? An Abraxan? A hippogriff?
But she took it anyway, not expecting humans to know any better, and gave the girl a stiff nod of her great head. "A member of the house of Rowena Ravenclaw, are you not?" Wondered Rosie out loud, and speaking for the first time. Her voice was not the typical deep sort that was part of her ancestors; instead, it was almost musical. She sounded very young, too. "Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure." Quote:

She then sat down before taking out her quill, ink and parchment before writing her name and year at the top. Lachlan once more employed his wand, and pinned the parchment to the girl's robes. Just like he'd done with Lola Jones. "Miss McGonagall."
All this curtsying kept giving Rosie the idea that the students thought of her not unlike the way they thought of a Hippogriff.
How insulting. She didn't HAVE WINGS!!! Quote:

Pointedly, he ignored Rosie's grunt yet again. "Hello, Miss Adler." Quote:

He was still thinking about his owl when he saw the Professor, and he only absentmindedly registered him. "Hi, Professor," he said, sitting down and taking out a quill and parchment.
And then spotting the huge form next to his teacher.
Noel's mouth dropped wide open at the sight of the sphinx, his eyes widening until they were almost popping out of their sockets. This was what they were going to be studying? He'd always wanted to actually meet a real sphinx, but for it to happen right at the start of his school career was almost too much like a dream come true to believe. "Wow", he breathed, as yet unable to say anything else. An obviously shocked Ravenclaw arrived and Lachlan tucked his tongue behind a molar to prevent a small chuckle from erupting. Distractedly, he scratched one of his cheeks and nodded at the boy. "Hey, there. The 'Wow' that came out of the boy was enough to make Rosie bristle and to procure a small out of MacFusty. "I promise she doesn't bite. Don't be afraid." Rosie would have liked to remind the MacFurry fellow that she could indeed bite, but refrained and instead busied herself by staring at her paws with a disgruntled expression. Quote:

Was...that...really...a sphinx. They like were crazy animals weren't they, did the Professor really think it was a good idea to show us THIS animal. Ronnie took out a piece of parchment never taking her eyes of the animal. She wrote.
On a piece of parchment and sat down right in front waiting for the lesson to start. The creature was beautiful in so many ways and down right frightening in others. It was going to be a good lesson, Ronnie was sure of it. The parchment was pinned to the girl's robes after a lazy flick of Lachlan's wand, and it was followed by a nod directed at her. He didn't fail to notice, though, that most of the students so far were quite young.
Now, he could only hope Rosie would notice the same and acted accordingly. Quote:

Chris had always been facinated by the more dangerous creatures, the ones she never thought she would be able to observe up close. She looked around further and noticed the professor's request, taking out a piece of parchment. Lachlan didn't have to look at Rosie to know that the sphinx had quietly grown outraged. [b]"She's actually not mine," Lachlan said, not unkindly, "You can say that Lady Rosamund and I are friends." Though Rosamund would beg to differ. Lady Rosamund VII was one hundred percent outraged.
TAMED.
She did not even look up from her paws, and simply remained still as she stewed in silent anger. Quote:

Now she had the freedom of hugging it appreciating the flames.
Unfortunately, there were no flames. Just a sphinx. Pfft.
Staring at it some, it was only a few seconds later did she notice the blackboard and what was written on it. Huh. Name tags. What happened to the Professors knowing their names and years before their lessons began? Sitting down, she pulled out a parchment, her quill, ink, and her notebook so she had something to write on before starting on this name tag thing. Why did it make her feel like a first year again? The older Slytherin did not seem to be scared by Rosie, and Lachlan had the faintest idea that perhaps it would take a lot for the girl to grow afraid--or impressed, for that matter.
"Miss Flores," He greeted her, after pinning her name to her robes. Quote:

Looking around the class, he checked his watch, checked to see if Rosie wasn't violently trying to fight the charms placed on her (she wasn't, surprisingly), and then added. "We will wait a few more minutes before commencing." To give others time to arrive, and all that.
