Because they honestly didn't think that one word characteristics with NO meaning whatsoever would be considered one, right? "Which would be translating whole sentences into number values. And to do this, you must add together the values from each word to get a final value for that sentence. Again, remember, do not reduce." She reiterated the last bit sternly, once more, because she knew she always emphasized the reduction in any previous calculation they've done for Arithmancy. This was different. Gavin used the words he had chosen to do the second exercise.
I = 9 = 9
am = 1 + 4 = 5
a = 1 studious = 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 9 + 6 + 3 + 1 = 29 quiet = 8 + 3 + 9 + 5 + 2 = 27 Ravenclaw = 9 + 1 + 4 + 5 + 5 + 3 + 3 + 1 + 5 = 36
who = 5 + 8 + 6 = 19
likes = 3 + 9 + 2 + 5 + 1 = 20 books = 2 + 6 + 6 + 2 + 1 = 17
and = 1 + 5 + 4 = 10 quills = 8 + 3 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 1 = 27
9 + 5 + 1 + 29 + 27 + 36 + 19 + 20 + 17 + 10 + 27 = 200
The sentence wasn't pretty but it conveyed who he was. |
