"Uhhh right then there. Well some of you know and some of you don't. That's alright, you'll learn probably. You can't conjure food, so if you put food up there go ahead and pretend it wasn't you but your friend that wrote it."
Sound advice. "And you can't conjure up OR transfigure something into a real person, so all you wanting friends and professors..." yeah, no. He wasn't offended at all.

The scratching began again. "Basically, if I can't carry it in my hand then you can't transfigure it. Yall know that? Why'd someone write happiness? You know where we are?" It sort of sounded like Shaw didn't know himself.

Right then. Shaw went back to the board, studied the chalk, then erased about half of the answers. He occasionally threw nervous glances over his shoulder and during the middle of his erasing and writing, he retrieved his alligator cloak and re-donned it. When he finally finished, the board read:

"There. There we go. There we go now. I put them there together like that. Makes sense. We'll get to that. First I need to know how do we go about transfiguring things? Magic words? Wand movements? Right? Where's them come from? Who makes up the words? What are the words? Why'd I'd make them there groups you think?"
He pointed to the grouped words on the board.
"The words are often from another language, particularly Latin. And the wand...well, it can transfigure and do magic because of it's magical core and the witch or wizard holding it. Even with a magic core, it would be useless to Muggles." Tayla answered, unsure what Shaw was asking exactly and hoping she was giving the right answer. Looking at the board, she continued. "You grouped it that way based on the Houses I suppose."

While the rest of the class puzzled through his questions, Shaw went to help uhhh girl person thing. "Right then. Here." Shaw reached around her, like a hug from behind, and helped her grip the chainsaw. "There now see that cord there? You hold this button down," Shaw put her finger in the right place, "then you pull real hard on that cord. You give him a try." Shaw stayed put at her back, keeping things steady for the little girl person.
Tayla stared with her mouth slightly gaping as Shaw helped the girl write - no, saw the board with the awful chainsaw. She shrugged and answered Shaw's question. "Fera Verto is used to transfigure animals into a water goblet, but I think it can be used to transfigure animals into other objects, too. 'Fera' is Latin for animal or beast. And 'verto' means to turn."

Which one of them wanted power??? THEY should be asking for turns on the chainsaw. Shaw left helmet girl person to her carving and sawing. She had the gist of it. Shaw had taught her everything he knew about chainsaws.

"LET HER RIP!" She'd made a pretty good S. S's were hard, Shaw knew. "Socks?" he laughed. "Socks are IMMMMMportant. That will be your personal project errr you." Person girl thing.

Now that chainsaw fun time was over again, Shaw turned back to all these people congregated around him. What...

Oh yeah.

"Aren't we doing stuff now?" Weren't they? Shaw was almost sure they were. Almost. "You probably know best. Let's get into groups. Yall like groups? Brilliant stuff comes out of groups."

"So let's you yellow wearing people work together. Then the ones wearing red work together. Blues with blues and greens with greens. If you don't know what I'm on about you can get in that there last group that I labeled," Shaw had to turn and see what he'd labeled it as," Err Everyone else?. Or work alone if you're into that."

Shaw stared at the board, then back to the class. "Right there. Your job is to come up with them there fancy words, Latin words, that you can use to change your stuff into well....other stuff. No promises they'll work, but understanding the ROOT before you grow flowers is always best, I say. Same for transfiguration. So go on now. Use your text books. Find them fancy words. Shaw will try out the ones I think will work best at the end."

Okay? Shaw looked confused and ate another bite of cup.

Tayla closed her eyes and covered her ears with her hands. She wished she had gotten earmuffs! As soon as the sound of the chainsaw stopped, she began to work.

SPOILER!!: ZARA and NIKA!!! ^_^

Find partner, find a partner. Zara shouted, "HEY! Who wants to partner up, Gryffindors?"

If no one would come up, she'd have to work alone, which isn't bad either.

Nika then ran over to the girl she had met at the feast. What was her name again....? Zara? Yeah that sounds right. "WOOO GRYFFIES!!!" She smiled at her and jumped up and down. "Gryffies over here!"

Tayla went over to Zara and Nika when she heard them call out the Gryffindors. Tayla didn't mind working alone, but it would be much better to work together this time. And besides, she just wanted to leave her seat up front and head somewhere safer.

"Hi girls," Tayla smiled, sat down beside them, and opened her book. "I think it's important to include 'verto' in the spell, Tayla said, thinking aloud as she scanned her book. Because, well...'verto' means 'turn'...and this spell is for transfiguration."

She looked up from her book and continued. "And maybe this time 'verto' should come first - unlike in 'fera verto'. 'Fera' means animal, so the spell was turning an animal in to something...this time...the spell could be...turning something in to - so that's 'verto' - a shield for example - so that can be, according to Latin, 'parma'." She wasn't sure if her classmates understood what she meant - she was a little confused herself, but she raised her hand anyway and decided to give Shaw some suggestions.

"Shaw, how about, 'Verto Galea' or 'Verto Pilleus' for the hard hat? Galea means helmet while pilleus means cap."

"Then, for the shield, 'Verto Parma' and for the armour, 'Verto Armatus'"?

To explain how she came up with the words, Tayla repeated to Shaw what she told Zara and Nika, then she bit her lip, and waited anxiously for Shaw's answer.
