Iris was a little numb. Whether from the excitement of the start of term AS HEAD GIRL; or from the fact that this was the last time she'd ever be boarding this wonderful old train at Kings Cross station, Iris didn't know. Quite possibly it was both. Still, here she was with a smile on her face.

Levitating her trunk into the Prefects' Compartment, Iris smiled to herself as she saw that she was the first one to get there. Once her trunk was in the storage shelf, she went and sat down next to the window; taking her new pygmy puff, Hermes, out of her pocket. It took her nearly all summer to come up with the name, but she chose that one because Iris and Hermes - in the Greek world - are like a pair. They're both Messengers. It seemed fitting for Iris to name her new pet as such. (Even if Robert did like to point out that it was silly and inaccurate a lot. Iris simply told him that his argument was irrelevant on the fact that the Greek Gods weren't even real.)

Because Iris hadn't found the chance to speak to Finlay over the summer, she kind of hoped that he'd show up next. But any of the prefects showing up would be good, really.
