His rolling Irish accent was just apparent as he spoke his name. Oh, his voice is lovely- the Irish have such a lilt to their speech.. She'd written an Irish tune for the cafe where she played guitar and sang. If he sings he'd sound amazing! Maybe he can at least give me pointers on the diction.
She stood and put out her hand. She needed to know people! She wasn't just going to sit here like a churchmouse and wait for the world to come to her.

"Hi Declan, I'm Violet Downing", she replied with a shake of her hand. "I'm the new receptionist for the Minister's Office. This is my first day." Her long, dark ponytail bobbed up and down as she shook his hand, and she brushed it behind her shoulder as it popped over. "So what's your position here?"

He obviously had been here before, since he knew that other chap. Unless they were old friends both starting on the same day.
"Pleasure to meet you Miss Downing." Declan firmly shook the pretty and friendly woman's hand. Her first day? "Same here. This is technically my first day working." He said in his thick yet understandable enough Irish accent. That was quite true. He knew his way around Level 1 since he'd been here before... when he submitted his application and all. That should explains it, no?

"I'm a... the Media Liaison."
Declan humbly replied. "I got to make the ministry looks good as I've been told." He softly chuckled at his own remark, flashing his pearly white teeth. Honestly, though, being the Media Liaison was way more than that.

If it had, then Ryuu would have had to stage an intervention.

"Me? Fashionably late?" He grinned and slipped his hands into his pants pockets, trying to give off an air of innocence. "I do believe that you have me confused for some other poor lad. I was only fashionably late, as you put it, to about 98% of the classes. That doesn't automatically mean that I will always arrive late."

Logic for the win.

"Sweet, Rye."
He smiled. It was sort of a sly smile. He just thought that Rye sounded a little corny, just like how he'd always been.

"Alright, mate, you win.
" Heh. It had always been like that; Declan would comment on something, Rye would argue, Declan would argue back, Rye would come up with something a logical and witty remark, and finally, Rye would win Declan determines just for the sake of putting a stop into their unnecessary, but nonetheless somewhat heartwarming, arguing.

He looked at his friend then back to Miss Downing. "Miss Downing, this is Ryuu, call him klutz if you will." Now the other way... "Rye, this is Miss Downing." Declan was never the one with the humor but spending time with his buddies, Rye for instance, had somehow influenced him not to be always that business-minded and uptight. A little fun wouldn't hurt, would it?
