We haven't quite bonded yet, but I'm sure it'll happen with time. Would I be allowed to bring him to Hogwarts?" she asked nervously. "Wow, a 7th-year! Thank you for lowering yourself to talk to a firstie!" she joked; well, only half joked. She'd never had an upperclassman talk to her before. "I can't wait to get there! Any advice for the firstie? What house are you in?" Her face softened as he mentioned his last year. "You're really going to miss it, aren't you? I'm sure it feels like home after 7 years."
Then he answered the dog question. Oh Merlin, just what she was afraid of! She chided herself for prying into his life with such a question. She hadn't meant it that way- she was a really empathetic person and always wanted to understand others' feelings. "Oh my God I'm so sorry!" she said sadly. She could see that his grief was very fresh- especially since it sounded like he'd just lost her. "I didn't mean to pry! You just looked so wistful when you were staring at the shelf. I shouldn't have asked- it was none of my business." She felt terrible, and actually teared up herself when she saw his eyes glass over. She reached out and touched his arm, hoping again that she wasn't over-stepping her boundaries. He just looked so [I]sad], and even though there was nothing she could do, she just felt like helping him. With a grin still planted upon his face as usual, Jayce glanced at the bird again. "He doesn't look.. Well, it doesn't look like it'll be too tough. I mean, i've climbed plenty of trees before.. and there was also a giant tree house at hogwarts which we use to climb a lot. So.. I'm sure i could get 'im." With that, he placed one hand on the highest shelf he could reach, and a foot on the lowest as he began to move upward. Wincing slightly once he reached the top, he held out his hand for the bird to hop onto hopping it would simply hop on and NOT bite him. (OOC: Would you like to decide what the bird does?)
Eyeing the younger girl again, Jayce pushed his long hair back. "Ah, newly acquainted friends then. That's nice." Jayce then placed a hand to his chin in thought. "Well, i don't see why not," he dropped his hand, "I use to bring-" GULP. "Opal.. my dog. And a good friend of mine has a fox as a pet.. so i don't see why not." he smiled in a somewhat encouringing way.
"Why yes, i'm a BIG BAD SEVENTH YEAR." Smirk. "But i'm.. realtively trustworthy. Although... you might not want to ask me for directions on your first day. I might accidentally point you in the wrong direction." Not because he was horrible evil, although he could be, but because he wasn't exactly good with directions. "Advice? Don't get on any of the teachers bad sides? But i'm sure you already knew that," he winked before continuing. "Well, yes and no. I wasn't exactly there for all seven years. I started halfway through my fourth year having transferred over from the school in Salem. It's.. a long story. But yes, it does feel like home after a while and i'm totally going to miss it."
Blinking a couple of times, as he fought the tears away, he stared at the ground until he was completely sure they were gone. After he was sure, he raised a hand to his eyes and rubbed them, awaiting the headache he knew would ensue.
The male smiled sheepishly. "It's alright. It's not like you knew or anything." he shrugged, brushing it off. No biggie. "Really, relax. I'm fine." But then his eyes blinked some more as he watched her put a hand on his arm. He patted it gingerly for reassurance only to show that he was alright. Being that Opal was his and was also his best friend, it would take time. But that was already expected.
