For many years I’ve sorted
For many terms I’ve placed
Young students in their houses
In the start-of-term house race

Some have gone to Gryffindor
There, clad in red and gold
Their lion-hearted wizardry
Defies the standard mold

I’ve placed others in Hufflepuff
Those badgers are most loyal
True friends were never truer
And their chivalry most royal

Perhaps you’ve gone to Ravenclaw
Where dwell the sharp of wit
They’ll learn it all twice over
Their quick minds shall never quit

Or maybe Slytherin’s for you
If in possession of
Those traits which would be welcomed:
Ambition and pure blood

Don’t deign to curb your thoughts
Take a seat and let me choose
Your true place in this castle
Where one’s kindred spirits schmooze

There’s nothing at all to fear
Not even a moment to lose
Just simply release your mind
Because essentially, you choose.
