What worried him the most was that Treyen still thought the man had been an awesome writer and he dealt with fame pretty well...and, of course, who could forget the fact that he'd been a brilliant Obliviator? Yes, but that worried him because between all the Lockharts he was the one that related to the man to some extent, and the only one that still felt greatly about him. It was quite possible that Ellie wouldn't feel that way if he told her the truth about Gilderoy.
Or...wait...he could.
The parts that mattered, anyway.
He smiled, weakly, "I didn't personally know him as the man he portrayed in his books, he had an accident and lost his memory, so, I only knew him as Gilderoy, the man that had written all of those adventures," he wasn't lying, he was actually telling the truth, and this was a very difficult thing for him to be talking about it so freely, "I like to think he was, though. An adventure seeker. I'm not sure if he did everything that he'd written....," now, that was stretching the truth a little, "...but at least I know that he was interested in all of it." That COULD be true, otherwise Gilderoy wouldn't have written the stories.
There was a wide smile on his face, but he failed to answer. Instead, he looked at her, rather fondly, and said, "Can't we just keep it as 'it changed as I got older'?" wasn't that enough for Ellie?
Ellie stayed quiet. Mhm. Cuz she was actually pretty interested in this Gilderoy Lockhart. So, during Treyen's story-thing, she contented herself with ripping the grass out of the ground.
The more he talked, the more she felt like she should have known this already. But it was just a feeling.
"That's pretty cool." Ellie would classify that as an adventure seeker. Definitely.
She looked back up at him. Now. And although she was confused by his smile combined with lack of answering, it was contageous. The smile. And she was smiling, as well.
"I guess..." If he wanted to be a spoilsport. But, she couldn't actually FORCE it out of him. So, she didn't have that much of a choice did she?
POUT.
