Too late. He already dropped the asphodel into the cauldron. Idiot. Now we’re both going to fail. I bite my lower lip and move closer towards Remus and Sirius’ cauldron.

“Psst. Moony, Mooonnyyy.”

I nudge him with my shoulder. “Psst, Moony, listen we need you—”

A shadow looms over us. Slughorn. I try to sound sweet and cordial. “Why, Professor didn’t see you come over. Why, that is a smart pair of glasses you have on, Sir.”

He points and I slink back to Peter, who is covered in green slime.
