"Quite well, thank you, Emily."

Even if a kitten had chosen to follow him around.

"Nothing a bit of chocolate can't cure?" Jared asked.

He had chocolate. Somewhere around here.

Somewhere.

"Good evening," Jared said, nodding at the students that had just joined them. The place had begun to fill up. Ought to start the lesson soon.

Jared gave Violet the usual, faint smile. "Thank you."

And it seemed she and Helena had the same question, on their minds. "Not yet." He supposed he could always ask the students. They seemed more interested in the kitten than him, at any rate.

The kitten rubbed its head against the girl's hand, and waved its little paws as the ball of yarn moved. In the process, the said ball of yarn fell out of its paws and started to drop, making for the ground. The kitten made a little pouncing movement.

....

Jared shrugged.

"Thank you, Cedric," Jared said, half-grinning as the Hufflepuff Prefect chose a place to sit.

"Sort of." Jared gave the Hufflepuff a faint smile. He supposed it would just follow him back to the castle, later on.

The two thumbs up made Jared laugh, a brief but good laugh. "Not so bad," he said.

"Is that some kind of feline?" Jared asked.

Embrace it?

He looked down at the kitten chasing its little ball of yarn, and then looked back up at Ellie.

....

No. Emphatically not.

Yes, we know you don't mean it literally, child.

"Professor Saylen," he corrected, hiding a grin at the fact that Maya scared some students as much as Hecate. "And thank you for the idea." Just joking.

Or maybe not.

Jared might have responded to that greeting, if Kurumi had not let out a squeak mid-sentence.

"Fine?"

"Good evening," Jared said, as more students arrived. It seemed at least two of them - Emily and Nika - had run all the way down here, at least given the state both were in. Jared frowned, before letting goblets of water set themselves in mid-air, in front of both girls.

The kitten looked up from the ball of yarn, interested in all the new arrivals.

"Good evening," Jared said, a faint smile tugging his lips upward. "It's appropriate for the lesson."

Once the area outside the Forbidden Forest had filled up, Jared passed around the supplies, marshmallows and s'mores and chocolate, just in case the students happened to be hungry. Then sticking a marshmallow on a stick, he extended it above the re-charmed fire, before speaking.

"Can anyone define a ghost? No textbook definitions, please. What do you know about ghosts?"

OOC: Class has started. If you join after this point, don't RP your character's late arrival. Just pretend your [s]he was there all along. Unless you have a very good IC excuse.

Emily gazed into the fire. Ghosts.... why were they discussing gohsts?
Raising her hand Emily offered her definition of a ghost.
"Isn't a ghost the spirit or soul of a deceased person? But only the spirits/souls of people who suffered unexpected or particularly violent deaths are able to become ghosts?.. something about their spirit or soul was unable to move forth onto the afterlife, which is why they still manifest in ghost form?"

Emily wasn't sure this was entirely correct, she had never really taken much of an interest in ghosts.
