It was not an everyday occurrence when a wizard turned seventeen, and Sirius had recruited Benjy Fenwick, Gryffindor’s resident party boy to organize a party. Remus’ half-hearted opinions against the affair had gone unnoticed, and in the end, it was Lupin himself the one keeping watch for unwanted visitors (like professors) outside the common room.

A dazed-looking James stepped out of the common room, and Remus exclaimed, “Another year older, James. How does it feel?”

“Like I’ve had too much mead and made a lot of bad decisions.”

“You are not wrong.” Crookedly, Lupin smiled. “Happy Birthday, Prongs.”

“Thanks, Moony.”
