The book says: THREE (3): You inherit a fun-loving, optmistic nature, a sense of humor, and a creative spirit.

My dad is very musical and creative, and I am definitely creative. Since I became a Lawson, I have also become more 'fun-loving' and found a better sense of humour. Being optimistic... that could be debated.

As a side note, I do think that that fact that I was adopted into the Lawson family is significant in how this number relates to me.
He shrugged. In HIS opinion, all of the interpretations of all numbers could relate to anyone if you looked hard enough.

Professor Hadley walked around the classroom, checking on the students calculations and skimming their interpretations. "Yes I could see this Jake. Fun loving, optimistic. Total sense of humor." As if his 'families suck' comment wasn't enough. "Just remember that these may just be themes present in your life. They don't have to run your life, but just underlying messages."

5 Meaning/Interpretation: Seems to suggest that Families with this name number are characterised by free spirit. That there should be no restrictions or limitations, and that routine is not favourable. This number also suggests that these Families like to travel and are risktakers with a revenous curiosity.

Father: Auror, constantly travelling, very curious nature, lacks routine, engages in risk-taking activities on a regular basis- Fits interpretation perfectly.
Mother: Teacher, travels seasonally, incredibly curious, craves routine and organisation- Not quite.
Myself: Student, aspiring to be an Auror, very curious and loves to learn, routines are very rarely adhered to, loves to travel, has been know to take risks- Fits interpretation reasonably well.

"Good, good. Curiosity runs thick in Ravenclaw veins, if I may say so." She had Eagles in her family, so she would know. "Actually curiosity runs parallel to your ravenous thirst for knowledge."

My mother ownes a magical creature hospital and has always strived for our home to be peaceful and my father has always tried to end conflicts of opnion or fights in a peaceful way. I like to have peace around too so i guess the desire to reduce conflicts fits me too a tee more so now that i've become a house prefect. The gift for detail can be debated and the same goes for gathering things since i'm not an avid collector of anything except maybe chocolate frog cards. And the last one you'll have to ask my friends and family about. I try to be loving whereas if i'm of a loving nature that i'm not sure about.
Sophie sighed. Another number would probably have fit her just as well as this one did. Was there a number which could be unique for just her or was that impossible? Prof Hadley might say something about that later in the lesson.

Suddenly, without warning, Professor Hadley gave a loud whistle. "We have here, our first master number!" Except the Gryffindor Prefect was clearly oblivious that she even had one. "You my dear... The Connolly family name is actually an eleven, not just a two. This number indicates your ability to encourage and inspire others. It realls is no wonder you're a prefect. Truly, living up to the family name."

ONE (1): You inherit an independent spirit, a forceful nature, a strong will, and the ability to come up with original ideas.

I think the bit about the indepedent is kind of true, because my father is very indepedent, and so are my brothers, which kind of shows I have inherited my indepedence. The forceful bit could relate again to my indepedence because I might be a bit forceful about not wanting to be tied down too much.
That....kinda looked right. He hoped.

It sounded a lot like a Ravenclaw, if Josephina was being honest with herself. And honestly, when wasn't she? "Original thinker, eh? So I guess you do got some knowledge up there in that noggin of yours." Oh Finn... you're so fun to pick on. "But yes, just remember though that these underlying themes applicable to specific areas of your life. So while they might seem general, it is up to you determine how they apply to specific areas of your life." To that she directed the whole class, not just the Ravenclaw Prefect.

My Family Name Number is: ONE.
Textbook Meaning: You inherit an independent spirit, a forceful nature, a strong will, and the ability to come up with original ideas.

My family could be considered to be these things for a number of different reasons and evens.

My parents chose to be independent when they broke away from their families in France and moved to England.

The rest of my "family" (i.e. My dad's parents, siblings...) have definitely shown their forceful nature when they DISOWNED me because I was born British.

Me, my mum and my brother are all very strong willed. It was tough when my dad left, but we all pulled through it. We all got on with our lives instead of breaking down and losing it without him.

I suppose the most "original" idea my family ever made was the move to England. Before my parents moved, none of the other Beaumonts had even visited the country, never mind lived there.

Iris looked at the textbook, with a frown. She didn't like this task. It was making her think about all the family issues that Iris didn't like to address. The ones she just wanted to forget.

Her interpretation wasn't very creative or insightful. To be perfectly honest though, Iris didn't want to try and interpret these things about her family. Doing so wouldn't bring her dad back, and wouldn't make her family accept her, so what was the point, really?

Another original thinker, eh? And interesting how they were both prefects. "Very good... I'm guessing that your Slytherin ambition and cunning nature will run parallel to the forceful nature that comes with being a Beaumont. Not to mention being a prefect will help to enhance your independence and strong will." It sounded good anyway.

An emotional nature?

Okay, there has got to be some way she miscalculated that number, yet the Professor hadn't corrected her. Hmm, well Lafay was rather emotional now that she thought of it. Her anger and irritation levels were...way up there.

Shaking her head slightly, she pulled her notebook closer to herself, flipping to a new page to calculate her own family name number. Bleh. Like she'd want to know about the Flores name. THREE (3): You inherit a fun-loving, optimistic nature, a sense of humor, and a creative spirit.

Interpretation: Well, I do like to be creative at times, not to mention my family is always coming up creative solutions to problems, and I suppose they do have a sense of humor, which, kinda rubs off on you if you have to live with them so I maybe inherited it too? Maybe. My parents were pretty fun and loving when I was younger too. I...could be fun. And loving. I guess. Too.

This failed. Her family was like...the complete opposite of this! In her eyes at least. Or...it was so opposite that it looked as if the description would fit them. Now, THAT she could believe.

...

That didn't stop her from sighing dramatically and letting the amazingly addicting to watch color changing quill to drop to her desk in annoyance. Even those flashing rainbow colors couldn't get her to smile.

Uh ... "Evelyn dear?" Professor Hadley approached and squatted down to the level of the girl's desk so she could look her in the eye. But then suddenly she heard something about Josh wanting to get married to her? "I think, if it means anything, then you have inherited the fun-loving, optimistic nature of your family name. And I'm sure some of your friends would agree." Not Josh, but Destiny and Marie for sure. "And it doesn't matter truly if your family members don't seem to fit this number. Just remember that these are general themes. They aren't laws. They aren't even set in stone. So ... Er, do me a favor? Don't rush into marrying someone just because you like they're family name number better. That's hardly a reason to get married." Oh yes, take it from her, the perpetually single, almost thirty year old professor.

Well my family does tend to be hardworking and organized, my father and mother both strong leaders of the family. Though money and power aren't that important to us, those we care for are which explained the predominate Hufflepuff loyalty that surfaces.
Mother: Librarian- A job that requires strong organizational skills
Father: International Magic Lawyer, the result of a successful career
Brother: Auror, dilegent and hard working in his work
Me: No I do not have an inflated ego...not even as quidditch captain, though I guess my leadership qualities have been surfacing to be trusted with such a position

Hmm...the Greingoth family was a four, apparently. Now just what did that mean? Sierra glanced back at her textbook and silently read:

FOUR (4): You inherit a belief that hard work is the right way to work, a sense of cautiousness, thoroughness, and self-discipline.

Sierra made a slight face before taking notes on her parchment.

...but hard work isn't really the only way to work. For example, if someone does something for you, then you really didn't have to do any of the work yourself--they did all your work for you. Now I do think Greingoth's--well, some of us--have been known to be cautious. For example, seeing other people smiling makes me think they're up to something. This is one of the main reasons I'm so leery of Hufflepuffs some people. Thoroughness sounds pretty accurate for my family. After all, when we set a goal to accomplish something, we always see it through to the very end. I'd say we're very ambitious people. Self-discipline? Psh. I'll just pretend like that one's not even there.

Conclusion: I don't know if I like the number four.

"Self discipline ... Well Sierra, that seems to work. Particular as a slytherin, or for your brother as well, because if you ever want to get anywhere in life and I'm pretty sure your father would want you to, then you'd need discipline. Thoroughness. Important trends for both yourself as a Slytherin and your brother." There father would not be let down if they followed the themes in their family name number.

I think I have inherited my dads problem solving skills as he was always good at thinking on his feet and doing puzzles. My mother was always very stubborn when she didn't get her own way and I deffinatly have some strong opinions that I'll voice. I disagree with 'family-oriented' as we never had a family meal/outing in all the time I was with them, so they never put me or my sister first.
Emily bit her lip. Hopefully that would do. She re-read what she had wrote, then raised her hand. She was slightly embarrassed by what she was about to ask.
"Um, professor? What does a 'conservative attitude' mean?"
Whatever it is, she was sure her family probably had it. Probably meant mad.

"It means basically that you learn toward the stricter side of things. The more mature or responsible side, if you will. You want to help people because you feel that its necessary. It's the right thing to do, so you strive to do right." Mmhm. Maybe. "Family oriented also could reflect on your biological or chosen family, despite using your biological surname to calculate the number. Just think about that one."

So with that, the con side of the list was going to be slightly difficult. The Head Girl picked up her quill and started scribbling down notes here and there.

Biological Family
Pro's
•They can't ever leave you legally, so in theory they will always be there for you.
•They can understand everything about your past or your homelife and help you if you have a problem.
•Your always going to have a home and a family to return to when times are tough.
•Your parents are more likely to hve a deep bond with you, provided your close.
•They will always love you, even if it doesn't feel like it, and even if it's really REALLY deep down.
Con's
•You can't go to them if you have a problem with your family.
•Your going to get effected more if you argue with them compared to non biological family.
But on the other hand, Trixie was incredibly close to her non biological family, her best friend, close friends and her boyfriend made Hogwarts what it was and without them the Blondes life simply wouldn't be the same. She would find it hard surviving with just one of them, she certainly needed them both.

Non Biological Family
Pro's
•You can choose who they are, if you don't like them then you won't pick them to be close to you. Your more likely to pick someone who are similar to you and care about who you are and not just because they have to.
•You can go to them whenever you need support as they are only an owl away. You can tell them any issue you want, including family problems
•You have the ability to love them as much as you love your real family because of how alike they are, they can change your life for the better, especially your best friend! *Cough* Oliver
Con's
•They can simply leave you because there is no biological contract keeping them to you. They can just up and leave if you have an argument or a falling out.
•They might not know you as well, which makes it hard when you have a problem and they simply can't help you.
By the time she had finished they had already moved onto the next subject. The Slytherin placed her quill down, blinking down at her list, had it really taken her that long to write it all? She watched as people volunteered their services and then it was time to move onto the next part. Calculating her family number for her own surname? Err.. Okay.

M A L F O Y
413667

4+1+3+6+6+7= 27
2+7=9

The number nine apparently means that the family I belong to have a concern for one another, something I find to be very true for my family as we look out for one another all the time, we always have and i certainly look out for my cousins at school. A number nine family also give generously to one another Does parents spoiling their children come under this? Because then that might be true. They can also be artistic. My parents used to do a lot of creative things with me I guess and now I'm like it, and feel the need to serve, probably making them a very close knit family which we are. And lastly, a number nine child is supposed to inherit emotional traits, and in my family, that is very true!

There. That would do right

"Precisely. I couldn't have interpreted the number better myself." The Head Girl really did have a grasp on this stuff and if she kept it up, she'd do fine on her NEWT exams.

Book: SIX (6): You inherit a conservative attitude that sees helping others as the responsible thing to do. You are an excellent problem solver and are family-oriented. You may have inherited a stubborn streak as well as strong opinions.

Interpretation:

After reading over the textbook meaning Marie frowned a bit. That didn't really sound like her... well all except for that last part. She WAS very stubborn and DID have strong opinions about things. As for family oriented, she loves her family and spending time with them. Just not as much time now that she was getting older. She would much rather spend time with her boyfriend friends than stay home with her family. Her helping others though? Did this book not know who she was? She thought about any time she may have helped someone else with something. Well, there were the times she broke some noses when those boys made Mia cry. They didn't bother Mia anymore after that. So not only did she help someone but she also solved a problem. That probably wasn't what the professor was looking for though. Not to mention it wasn't a very conservative attitude to have.

She looked over at Finn who already had his work done. Good. Now he would have time to help her. "Um, I don't think this number really suits me. What do you think?" She asked showing him the six on her parchment.

Yep, she was gonna take total advantage of his Ravenclaw smarts here.

"Like Prefect Carmicheal said, that family oriented bit doesn't have to pertain to your actual family. It could pertain to your chosen family. Or even the future... though probably years away ... the family you will soon raise and love of your own." Scary thoughts those were, even to her.

One should ask what he was thinking about when that person decided to create a word with such a meaning, whoever he or she was. Anyway, at least he was happy with his family no matter what so he had no hesitations like others as he wrote down his last name on the piece of parchment, ready to calculate it.

Hmmm...so he got two. Interesting and nice. Josh liked two. Yep, he liked it but.....WAIT! Checking the text book again, he did not need much time to see that he was wrong. That was only a '2', it was '11'. Now, that was different. He got a master number. MASTER number! Hehehehehe

Quote:

3 1 9 2 5 9

3+1+9+2+5+9 = 29

2+9 = 11

1+1 = 2

The result : 11/2 a MASTER number!!!!

ELEVEN (11/2): You inherit the ability to uplift, encourage, and inspire others. Your family name brings with it a sensitivity to others and the desire for spiritual living. You will learn from life through many tests that illuminate certain universal truths.

Interpretation: I don't know what those others who know me think but i think this is pretty accurate. No one in my family is whining-like-baby-moody kind of people and they do like to help others. Just like i do. Yeah, we are good people! Sometimes my mother can be a pain in the back by repeatedly telling me study but other than that she is okay. She still has the same characteristics after all. I don't know about my little sister yet because she's too little but i'm sure she'll turn out to be like us. And that's true, people are inspired by us because we are just the perfect example of the fact that a pureblood witch and a muggle dude can be happy together. That is the universal truth my parents has illuminated that way.
Once he was done Josh put his quill back on the desk with a content expression on his face. Now, he could feel that he missed home. He even missed his mother yelling at him or sending him away to Ryan just to ged rid of the fuss he created. Hahha. Nice memories. Now to see what others were doing.

And by others, of course, he meant Evelyn. Wondering what the Snake Girl possibly got, his dark brown eyes searched her in the class...there she was! As pretty as usual, she seemed to be busy with her calculating. With a little warm smile on his face, Josh kept watching her as she worked on her number wondering which last name she was using for this. Her original one or Destiny's? Probably the original one as it was much more reasonable to calculate that one at her case.

Then when she seemed to be done after a minute or so, Josh was still watching her beautiful face without moving his gaze even for a single second, the boy's smile vanished too when he saw her displeased expression and disappointed sigh. Ah! She, the lion boy assumed, got a result that she did not like. There was no way Josh could let a little number make this Slytherin girl unhappy. No way!

So he grabbed his white quill, drew a circle around the '11' and took the parchment waving it towards her cheerfully ''ROSE! Hey Rose!'' the professor would not be annoyed if he raised his voice a little to ger her attention, would she? Hehe. ''Look here, hun! If you don't like your family number, it seemed to me that you don't, you can MARRY me and have THIS as the family number'' he waved the parchment some more ''I got a master number. A MASTER number, Rose. This is also the proof that i am The Master of Everything. We can be both happy with this number!''

Bahahahaha! Yeah, everybody knew he was right. It was just difficult for them to accept it.

"Josh Carter! Please. Settle down. No one is proposing in my class based off numbers." Hadley said, eyes ready to bulge from their sockets. "Your master number does not mean you are the master of everything. Just because you got a master number in your calculation doesn't not mean ANYTHING of the sort. NO! But rather, your family name has the power to give you the abilities to inspire and encourage others. That does not mean you know everything. At all." Ugh. Can someone please stick a pin in his big head and deflate it a bit?

Interpretation: Stubborn, maybe. But I see very little of the rest of it in myself. Though, I would like to say that I do, it just isn't me. In fact there isn't a number that describes me very well.
Jacob set his quill down... this is why he didn't enjoy this class. It was all numbers, and guess work. Nothing factual... It was like Divination which he quit after his first class just numbers instead of chrystal balls.

You had to live life... you couldn't just sit there and try to explain it. This would make people go crazy... sitting in a small room with a bunch of numbers trying to figure the meaning to their pathetic little lives... the waste of time and education, trying to figure out the world, when they could be helping it.

Now here was a kid Josh could learn from. "Captain Blunt! Problem solver, eh? Like figuring out some plays for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team?" Perhaps a touchdown would do it. Heh. SIX (6): You inherit a conservative attitude that sees helping others as the responsible thing to do. You are an excellent problem solver and are family-oriented. You may have inherited a stubborn streak as well as strong opinions.

I DO like to help others, not just because its the right thing to do, but because its fun to do as well. Family is a big part of my life, specifically my big brother, Noah. Out of all my siblings, I'm closest to him. I'm equally close to both my parents. Not sure about my stubbornness, but I do have strong opinions.

Hm.

All this talk of family was actually starting to have them missing them a bit more. She would have to write them once this class was over. Placing her quill down on the table, she eased back in her seat and waited for the next set of instructions.

Same thing for you, Miss Lovegoods. Heh. Josephina was beginning to wonder slightly if some of these kids were copying off their neighbors. Had it not been for the unique last names, she might have believed it. "Helper... family-oriented. Very ... Hufflepuff." Yup, no other way to really describe it.

Nika looked through her text book and found the page on family name numbers. She frowned slightly when she read the short description it had for the number 4. All of the other numbers had way more written to describe them.

FOUR (4): You inherit a belief that hard work is the right way to work, a sense of cautiousness, thoroughness, and self-discipline.
Nika took some more notes on her parchment including how her family liked to be careful and get things done with hard work. It wasn't really true though, she thought to herself. Her dad is so lazy it's not even funny.

EEK! Another oblivious student! What was it with Gryffindors and being oblivous to master numbers?! That called for another loud whistle on the part of the Professor. "Miss Adler dear, you've got the master number 22!! Which means you're not a four, but your family name number actually follows a different description. You have the ability to build things that will benefit large groups... The skills of leadership and good work ethic. Endurance. Traits that are admirable in a Gryffindor as well, if I may say so."

Well, that explained why she was a Hufflepuff!

"Of course. Like I said to Miss Greingoth over there, it's a very hufflepuff number as well as Slytherin. Being the thorough and cautious person that you are ... it will get you far in life, i reckon. Just remember to not be TOO cautious, because there is such a thing."

She seemed to have had an easier time with the calculations than most of the other students. Well, there's a reason I'm in Ravenclaw. She grabbed her textbook and flipped through to the page that gave the information associated with the number as a Family Name Number, also copying down the descriptions in the front of the book.

7: Analysis, research, solitude, wisdom, spiritual focus, investigative, mystical

SEVEN (7): Analytical and Mystical
Key Words: Intellectual, inner wisdom, scientific-technological minded, metaphysical and occult mysteries, loner, eccentric, intuitive, private, skeptical, reserved, analyst, education, calculation, logic, ritual, reason, dignity
Astrological Equivalent: Pisces
Tarot Card Equivalent: The Hermit (silent, wise, seeks truth. The solitary Hermit is the wise teacher and withdraws to mediate); the 7s of each Minor Arcana suit
Colors: Violet, purple
Gems: Amethyst, alexandrite
Flowers: Lavender for silence, rose-scented geranium for preference and discernment

SEVEN (7): You inherit a desire for knowledge, you value learning, and you respect quality, facts, and theories, as well as a need for spiritual understanding. Your family traits will be those of observation, analysis, perfectionism, and the desire for privacy.

That's so true...More about Henry and I than the others, I think, but very true.

At first Josephina was not sure the girl had fully gotten the activity as she wrote down other attributes about the number seven, but none pertaining to the family name number. "Yes ... desire for knowledge. Very much a Ravenclaw attribute. You love to learn and thrive on facts and theories, but have a thirst for spiritual understanding as well. Very nice."

SPOILER!!: Vashti's pro/con list
Biological Family
Pros:
~Always there - even if they aren't there physically or there for you emotionally to take care of you, they are there and they exist
~You can't ever literally be without a family, even if your family doesn't act like one
~They care for you, love you, and provide for your needs
~You usually have a lot of (extended) family members, so there should be at least one that you can get along with
Cons:
~You can't chose them, so sometimes you end up related to some really (not always in a good way) weird people
~Sometimes Aunt Grace they can make you do/agree to do "gardening" something you don't want to do
~When they're gone, it hurts
Other Family (Friends)
Pros:
~You can choose them
~Usually you have some of the same interests
~They're there for you when sometimes your family can't be
~You know they hang around you because they want to, not because they are obligated to
Cons:
~Just as you can choose to be their friend, they can choose to no longer be yours
~Sometimes you can lose them over really stupid things
~You can be friendless

Mm, that was all she could think of for the moment. If another one came to her she'd just add it later assuming she'd be able to once they got to the adventure part of the lesson.

But now it was time to calculate, so Vashti moved her paper up a bit so she'd have more room to write on.

SPOILER!!: Vashti's calculations
Family Name Number
G+R+E+E+N+W+E+L+L
7+9+5+5+5+5+5+3+3
47
4+7
11

Wait, wait. So she'd gotten an eleven which, according to the textbook, was a master number. But she'd never gotten a master number before, so she suddenly wasn't sure what to do with it... So she simplified it further just in case before looking at the textbook's description for each.

SPOILER!!: still calculations + description
Family Name Number
G+R+E+E+N+W+E+L+L
7+9+5+5+5+5+5+3+3
47
4+7
(11)

So...they were kinda the same either way really. But how true were they for her family? She chewed her lip as she thought about it for a few moments before scribbling down an interpretation.

SPOILER!!: full calculations/description/interpretation paper
Family Name Number
G+R+E+E+N+W+E+L+L

Interpretation: I think that it, for the most part, does really describe my family. We always try to encourage each other as well as other people, espeically when they're down and discouraged. I guess that shows a sensitivity to other people too, since you can't really enourage and uplift someone without being sensitive to their needs and hurts. You'd only make the situation worse otherwise. I'm not sure whether we actually inspire others or not - that's kind of something other people decide - and I'm not sure that we're very "spiritual," though I guess it depends on how you interpret the meaning of that word. As for the "tests that illuminate certain universal truths," I know my family has just gone through a "test" that we're still dealing with right now, but as far as I can see, I at least have learned no universal truths from it. None that are worth the cost of the test, anyhow.

Once she was finished, she laid her quill down on her desk and leaned back to stretch her legs out a little, waiting for whatever would come next.

Oh good. Another student who figured out they had a master number, but at least Vashti wasn't so ... conceited about it. Perhaps Josh's family number was really an eight in disguise; yup, inflated ego, totally him. "Yes Vashti. Couldn't have explained it better myself. You've got the right idea."

She looked around as everyone began calculating their family numbers...but it wasn't as easy as that for her. Her father, the man she loved and grew up admiring so much, wasn't who he said he was. There was no person named Charles Hollingberry, at least, not one that had a birth certificate. No, her father had faked his own death years before she was born, changed his name, and run away to Japan to work. He had even changed his appearance slightly...Kurumi didn't know who he was...or who she was anymore.

Hollingberry...or...the other name...

Tears already stinging her eyes, Kurumi put her hood over her head when she saw her hair turning a dark slate blue. She could control the changes for the most part these days, but explosions of intense emotion were still impossible. Leaning forward now so that he face was hidden a bit, Kurumi began to calculate...

SPOILER!!: imagine shaky handwriting and tears smudges

H O L L I N G B E R R Y
8 6 3 3 9 5 7 2 5 9 9 7

(8+6+3+3+9+5+7+2+5+9+9+7) = 73 = (7+3) = 10 = (1+0) = 1

Hands shaking, Kurumi looked to her textbook and read the description aloud in a low whispered as her voice showed how she was feeling inside. "You inherit an independent spirit, a forceful nature, a strong will, and the ability to come up with original ideas."

Frowning even more, she wasn't sure this fit her at all. She was not very independent, nor was she forceful by nature. Strong willed? Perhaps...but the rest did not seem to fit. Hands shaking even more now, Kurumi found herself unable to see for a moment due to the tears. Picking up her quill again, Kurumi began another calculation.

SPOILER!!: imagine shaky handwriting and tears smudges times like ten

G A U N T
7 1 3 5 2

(7+1+3+5+2) = (18) = (1+8) = 9

Using the sleeve of her robe to wipe away tears now, Kurumi returned her blurred gaze to the textbook. Your greatest growth will come from compassion and forgiveness. Her hair finished its metamorphosis to dark slate blue and Kurumi clutched the hood of her robe tightly as she read the sentence over and over and over again.

Forgiveness...compassion...all things she had wanted from her mother who refused to so much as look at her without her brown colored contacts in. All because she was a witch...all because she was different...Then there was her father who had taken extreme steps in his life to protect himself and his family...but why?

How could Kurumi forgive without answers?

Unable to take it anymore, Kurumi buried her face in her arms and sobbed softly.

Um ...

...

Was it just her or was Kurumi sobbing?! Oh. Oh. Perhaps they needed something sweet BEFORE they went off gallivanting.

"Kurumi..." Professor Hadley said gently, touching her arm. "I'm sorry. I'm here... if you wanted to talk. Sometime." Because someone was clearly bothering the young girl.

Something that Hadley wasn't sure she could begin to understand, but empathize no doubt she could do that.

FOUR (4): You inherit a belief that hard work is the right way to work, a sense of cautiousness, thoroughness, and self-discipline.
Hm, well four did seem to work, although she wasn't sure if she had done it right. She shrugged and then looked over her list of pros and cons for biological and chosen family.

"Another cautious and thorough student," Josephina said outloud, as she glanced at the next student's parchment. "It will take you far though... that sense of thoroughness. The hard work. The discipline. You'll see. Just keep working hard and it'll pay off in the end." Maybe.

Family Number is Nine
NINE (9): You inherit an artistic flair, a concern for others, an emotional nature, generosity, a sense of needing to serve, a philanthropic nature, and an attitude of looking for what is possible.’

Interpretation: I see artistic as being rather a perfect fit for my family, we are a nice little bunch of snappy dressers, with each having their own style. We do most things with flair anyway, not at all alright with performing something at half-mast or with less than one hundred precent originality. I have always been brought up to have empathy for those around me, to never over-look someone or judge them. The last sentence ‘looking for what is possible’ couldn’t be more us if you tried; with a father who is a WizArchaeologist, as a family we have travelled the world, looking for what is possible.

Look back over the parchment, Patroclus couldn't help but smile; it was true his family was perfect!

See Josh! Even Patroclus and his perfect family wasn't being all smug and conceited and bragging! "Subtle pride. I like that. And your interpretation. Very nice, Prefect Hudson." You make Gryffindors proud.

Looking at the whole class to address for another moment, she smiled. "You're all doing fairly well. Continue to work on your interpretations of your family name numbers for a few more minutes before we move on... Remember that the textbook interpretations are general and it is up to you as arithmancers to apply specific twists to those textbook meanings and make them personalized and unique for you."
