It probably wasn't a good idea to tell her that she had hit him with a book, was it? So it wasn't direct, but he wasn't sure if it would have been less damaging to be hit with her fists; probably given the book had a lot of weight to it.

It was her last words that had his throat clenching, a hard swallow constricting his voice. "Arya....."
