And the words, along with those that quickly had followed from little Charley and from Luin made her have faith in the class again, and she smiled. "Yes," she said simply, directing the word at all three of them. "Although I'd need to point out that the same concept can be used when it comes to any relationship. Not just after a marriage. But yes, Valentine's Day was the connection I was making. We aren't going to try the two nut idea, however. That seems a bit too complicated for us to be doing out here in the grounds." Not to mention the few students who she was starting to think shouldn't be trusted close to flames.
"Anyhow," she continued, turning her attention back to the whole class. "The basic idea is to assign something to a nut. Simply by saying it or in some other way, and to make it easier on everyone you don't have to involve a relationship, or a couple, if you don't like. Some sort of goal should work for our purposes." She had a feeling there were enough people who would think it amusing to theoretically divine if a relationship would be successful. "Hazelnuts are in the container over there by my puppy. Don't bother him if you don't feel comfortable around animals, but he shouldn't cause any problems with you retrieving a nut. And once you have your nut, and have decided what you want to divine, establish that and set the nut by the flame. It'll probably take a little time, but eventually the nut should either pop or just burn. Popping means positive things, most commonly success, and burning the opposite," she informed them. Hopefully they wouldn't get too crazy. "Feel free to continue munching on the marshmallows, s'mores, and hot dogs as well, and I'll still be around to answer questions or help in any way." Not to mention keeping her eye on people to make sure nothing got incinerated that wasn't a nut or other sort of food item.
But for now they were set loose to try their hand at trivial divination games before she'd set the homework and let them all go back inside from the cold. She somewhat wanted to head back inside as well.
ooc: As mentioned, RP getting your nut, setting the goal that you want to test, and placing the nut near the bonfire. NOT INSIDE IT. And then you can decide how your nut will react. I'll still be around for any assistance, and we'll let things continue for a few more days before I assign the homework. *nods*
Time to get his nut. Because he'd been staring at the fire for so long, finding the nut became the hardest task ever, his eyes were too accustomed to the light, and everything else was dark.
But, yeah, he didn't get anything to eat, though, however he did get the hazelnut. In previous years, he usually came up with a question pretty quickly. All those questions were now answered and he had no clue as to what he should be asking. He wasn't doing the relationship stuff, since he didn't think Divination should be put to use for those purposes, BUT, even if school was still in session, he felt the urge to find out if he'll be seeing a certain redhead during the summer and he smiled at the thought.
Then Treyen shook his head. Why? Because Arya was wrong, the boy didn't like Ellie that way. Nope. And, also, Divination is not to be used for said purposes. That was his opinion, anyway.
His eyes managed to catch a tree in the far distance and suddenly remembered something he'd read in Aparecium. His gaze followed the nut in his hand, and he was now focusing on one question.
'Was the Herbology Professor going to be found?'. Yes, that was a good question. A good, selfish question.
Focus some more. Nut near the fire. And now he waits until it burns or pops. Easy enough.
