Neither relented. Draco attempted to shove both ladies off but, even as he did so, he found he could not keep a straight face as the sheer absurdity of the situation occurred to him.

Ridiculous? Yes. But laughable, too.

He hadn't imagined Ginny could rope his mother into something like this. And how could he? The thought of Narcissa, calm and elegant Narcissa, crouching in the shadows of his bedroom like a lioness awaiting her prey, would just have seemed absurd. Impossible.

But Ginny had managed to rope his mother into something like this. He'd tripped over a pillow the moment he had opened the door, and then another, and then another, and then he had been doing something that might be labelled a graceless dance, as if someone had cast Tarantallegra on him, and he'd landed on top of his head, and both of them had attacked him, cushions and pillow shields and all.

"STOP IT," he thundered and, all of a sudden, both of them did. Mother and girlfriend, both paused. They looked at him, uncertain, and Draco looked back, gaze cold. Then he made the mistake of grinning.

Immediately, the attack resumed.
