"Malfoys don't clean," Draco drawled, in the middle of the room full of owls and - of course - droppings.

"Oh shut up," Hermione said, shooting a non-verbal Scourgify into a corner. "This is for the job fair next week, you know that. It's up to us to take care of these owls. Besides -" She gave him a look. "Shouldn't you be glad Professor McGonagall partnered us up? Imagine poor Ron having to tackle Pansy."

"Serves him right," Draco, who could not for the life of him treat Ron as an equal, smirked. "She has a crush on his brother, did you know that?"

"Pansy?" Hermione actually paused in the process of casting another spell. "You have got to be joking."

"Me? Joke? You'll be the downfall of my reputation, one of these days. Especially -" he added, taking her wand from her, and ridding the room of all the droppings in one fluid movement of it - "If they find out you and I get along."

"How did you do that?" Hermione asked, ignoring his comment, and staring at the now-clean room.

"Must have been dark magic, Granger," he smirked.

"You'll always be a git, Malfoy."
