Chapter 4
Interesting

The sorting was something like I’ve never seen before. A talking hat was just the cherry on top. The great hall was enormous and filled with so many students already and to think that I was going to be joining them for the next seven years. Chris was placed in Gryffindor and I smiled in hopes that he and I would be in the same house. Jacob was sent over with the Slytherins all clad in green and I frowned. Hopefully we could still be good friends even if our houses hated one another. A girl named Amanda Hopkins was sent to the Hufflepuff table and another girl named Casey Hopkins was sent to Ravenclaw. Both girls looked really upset and I guessed they were twins.

Alyson walked up and put the hat on no sooner than it touching her head it shouted Slytherin. She sat next to Jacob and smiled. She whispered something to him and laughed but her just looked irritated.

I walked up and sat upon the wooden stool. I didn’t know what to expect but there was a voice whispering to me. “Elizabeth Mae. Such a lovely name and with that name such a bright and brilliant mind. Maybe Ravenclaw….Ah but what is this. You have an attitude in you that can build and break. A determination that is fired up and ready to succeed no matter what the means. Maybe Slytherin would suit you the best. Then the courage oh and so much kindness and readiness to accept anyone into your heart. Where would all this fit best?” It felt like forever until the hat finally shouted. “Slytherin!”
As I hopped off the stool and looked at the green clad table Jacob’s smiling face was the first thing I saw. The second thing was Alyson’s glaring eyes, thank Merlin she was not glaring at me but I found it weird that she would be glaring at Jacob when she hardley new who he was. I made my way to the table everybody wanting to sit next to me which seemed kind of weird to me, guess that’s just how it went. I didn’t know.

When I did sit down, I sat down across from Jacob and smiled. He smiled right back at me and said, “Welcome to Slytherin.”

I smiled at him and said,”Thanks. It’ felt like I was up there forever because the Hat didn’t know where to put me. I guess I was best suited to be here though.”

Alyson glared and turned back to Jacob and said, “So anyway. Dad told me to tell you he said hi and that he can’t wait to see you on Christmas.”

He shrugged, “Well mum hasn’t said anything. In all honesty she doesn’t want me to go to his house. To make it even worse she doesn’t want you there."

I didn't know what to think. I looked back in forth and noticed something that I shoudl have noticed before. They both had the same color hair and eyes. The same bone structure and the same set frown. "I think I might have missed something here."

Jacob frowned and looked at me. "She's my twin sister. Our parents are divorced. I should've told you but I didn't know how to."

Alyson sneered. "Personally Jacob I thought you would have better tast in people. I never thought you would choose some filthy mudblood."

"For the last time I'm not a mudblood. My mum and dad are both magically gifted you snidget." I sat the glaring wish her beautiful blond lock would burn and singe right of her scalp. "And again who gave you bloody permission to be as mean as you wanted. Last time I checked your dad was the Minister of Magic not you."

Jacob snorted at me and the snort became a full on laugh. I couldn't help but smile but when I looked back at Alyson her eyes had glazed over and were cold as ice. She looked more than just mean misunderstood unloved twin. She looked pure evil. Jacob looked back and forth and I wondered if her could sense the tansiable tention as much as I could.

"So now you know the big news. Just ignore Alyson. I'm the good twin. I was raised by my our mum and she always held firm to the belief that all girls should be treated with respect and kindness. Dad, however, felt that it was best to be controling and rude first then ask questions later." He smiled apologetically and my head.

"Well then if you two are done talking about me like I'm not here I'd likie to point out the fact that he won't be too pleased to know your talking to a mudblood." Alyson took a sip of some water. "Especailly a cheeky monkey like her."

"Alyson have you even asked about Elizabeth's life?"

"Well," she said staring off into the distance. "No but she didn't know who I was and only a muggleborn wouldn't know who I am."

"My parents didn't tell me anything thank you very much. They wanted me to have a normal childhood. Or as normal as a childhood can be without magic." I crossed my arms and glared at her. "So I'd like an apology thank you very much."

I knew I wouldn't get one and she did nothing to prove me wrong when she stood up and made her way to the other end of the table. I watched her walk away and watched as everybody had fear placed in their eyes at the sight of her. "What is there to be afraid of. She's just a rotten bully." I looked down and blushed, "Sorry I forgot. You two are related. Don't kill me."

Jacob laughed and siad, "Now why would I do that? My life has become so much more interesting since you arrived."
