There was one question she didn't know. Normally she woudn't have asked and instead looked it up in the library but she knew it would bug her for the rest of the lesson. Better get it over with...
"Professor, what actually is Baldr’s Bane?" she said in a quiet voice. Now she felt stupid. Great!
"Baldr's Bane is another name for mistletoe. Baldr once had a dream of his death and because dreams are prophecy for the Norse gods and goddesses, his mother made every object on earth promise not to hurt him. Everything in the world made that promise except for mistletoe, who Frigg, Baldr's mother, did not ask. Loki heard this and had a magical arrow, or in some recountings it is written as a magical spear, made from the mistletoe and joined the other gods in their latest game.

This game consisted of the gods hurling things at Baldr because it was amusing to see things bounce off of him without hurting him. Loki gave the mistletoe missile to Höðr, Baldr's blind brother, who killed Baldr with it, inadvertently."

Truebridge explained in his usual patient way, "Bane is of course another word for death, destruction, ruin, poison, or a thing that causes death or destroys life. Mistletoe causing Baldr's death is why it is also known as Baldr's Bane."

Of course there was more to the story, but that was enough of it to answer her question thoroughly.

No, she had a question. Raising her hand, she waited to be called on before asking. "I have a question, Professor." she said, letting her quill drop to her desk before continuing. "The last question about the feathercoat. If there is something such as cloak of invisibility existing, could there be a cloak or something that...transforms people into birds, or some other form of animal? Is that even possible?"
"Yes it is possible but the magic to do so is supposedly lost. Think on it. One can charm a... canary cream, for example, and eat that and turn into a giant canary. The difference with the feathercoat is that its user would still keep his or her own mind, the feathercoat would effect their outer self but they would not have the mind of a bird. As with many lost magic, it is theorized that such things are achieved with a combination of spell work and runework, just like the very wards in the foundations of Hogwarts." Was that enough of an answer? He smiled at Evelyn a bit absently and then got ready to continue the lesson.

"Any more questions or are you all ready to continue with the five point round?"
