She had after all said it would be a surprise or something. She could clearly tell he wasn't good with all of this stuff; costumes and parties and all that. And now maybe it was obvious he sucked at the boyfriend thing? Neptune pulled back, skepticism on her face. Didn't need to try? "Do you really think that? Or just like to make me happy with all the things you know I want to hear?" She wasn't entirely sure what the right answer was to that question, or what she was hoping the answer was. Tricky. A yes to both?
She needlessly dusted his shoulder and avoided looking directly at Jake. "You know I don't actually need help. A letter home and Mother will send me everything I need. It's you we should worry about." |
