Okay, nobody had seen... that was good. Jake bit his lip and checked through his notes again, checking to see how best to do this. It all looked pretty simple; wand movement, words, focusfocusFOCUS!

Holding his wand up again, Jake stared down at the pocket watch and closed his eyes, concentrating on a simple compass like the watch already looked, but functional. North actually reading as North and everything. He took a breath and did the wand movement, following up with, "Comletia!"

When he looked at the compass, Jake made a face before smiling. It looked ALMOST the same as last time, the bronze casing now a HORRIBLY tacky kind of plastic with gold colouring, but the needle wasn't going haywire now. Weirdly... it was just pointing ahead. Jake wasn't entirely certain he was already facing North, though.

Heh.

Balancing his wand on the palm of his hand, Jake leaned down and whispered Point Me! to the wand, raising an eyebrow as it pointed in the direction that his defunct compass was calling south-east.

Actually... could it be defunct if it never worked? Well... it worked as a watch before...

Jake sighed and rotated the compass, hoping for it to suddenly realise it's error, but the needly continued to point in the directiong Jake had faced when casting the spell, no matter how much the compass rotated or even Jake rotated.

Heh, maybe he should work out where North was before he tried it next.

Feeling a little too hot inside, despite being in a mediaeval castle on a winter's day, Jake decided to try this outside. He cast 'finite' on the compass and gathered his stuff, leaving for the grounds.
