Had Braeden not been paralyzed at that moment, he probably would've gone on an hour-long speech about how Titanic was one of the best movies of all time, and how the whole story was based on true events that took place many, many years ago and how it is suspected that the main character, Rose, was a half-blood witch.
But none of that came out of his lips. He loved movies, but the last thing he wanted to do when a mutant, weirdly-coloured squid tentacle was coming his way was to talk about movies. How about they talked about running as far away from that spot as possible? Yeah, that sounded like a good subject.
"Oh, uh-- what?" Braeden had been so distracted being completely horrified that he almost didn't hear Ava Jade's question about the thing and her suggestion to leave the creature alone. "I have… no idea," he replied honestly before nodding. "We should probably go…" he muttered. BUT. "But… I wanna see what it is, first," he added, tearing his gaze away from the freaky creature to raise his eyebrows slightly at Ava Jade. After flashing the girl a small, slightly mischievous smile, he took a couple steps closer toward the creature; at this moment, his curiosity was overpowering his cowardliness. And we all know the saying about how curiosity killed the cat… well, this time it might kill a lion.
He wanted to see what it was?! She knew he was a Gryffindor, but really? She and her friends had put on all kinds of stunts (and gotten quite acquainted with the hospital wing...), but lately she'd tried to be more careful around potentially dangerous creatures and things. But...if Braeden thought it was alright... She drew out her wand -- just in case -- and returned his mischievous smile. "You first!" She watched him step closer and took a baby step in the same direction, gripping her wand tightly. Wow, the suspense was amazing. She hadn't felt this bold since her third year, when she had tried to tease a fire crab into lighting a little pile of sticks she and one of her friends had built. (She'd ended up in the hospital wing overnight for that one.) Why did she get such a thrill at doing dangerous things?? Maybe that's why she got along with Gryffindors so well...
