Jake was pretty proud that they were supplied with watches... mainly because he was currently wearing the one he'd been given by his... sister(? was she his sister? she was part of his old family after all...) for his seventeenth birthday, and it was SUPER nifty.
Yeah, no. Not turning that into a compass.
However, the pocket watch was awesome, because he could swing it 'round on it's chain and have it land into his pocket. Whiiiiiiiich the boy did straight away. It was fun.
Oh wait... "Com-LET-e-ah. Comletia..."
Yeah. Nailed it.

Now please practice the wand movement without the incantation, and once you feel you have mastered it, move on to doing the two together."
That wand movement was no swish and flick, that was for sure. Jake was sure he'd be able to work it out... but it was SOOOOO HOT IN HEEEEEEEEERE.
Taking a deep break, Jake held up his wand to cast the spell... and dropped his hand again.
Far too hot.
Swallowing a lump in his throat, Jake ran the back of his forearm across his forehead and picked up his stuff, before heading over to a desk right beside the window which he pushed WIIIIIIIIIIDE open.
That was... moderately better.
Now, Jake KNEW he was able to do this spell. It was, to be frank, quite simple. Well... it was simple for him now he could do magic.
"Comletia," Jake said to his pocketwatch after setting it out on the table. He had the wand movement correct and the word was all good, but he had doubts about his weak voice when he actually cast the spell. He wasn't really concentrating, just trying to cool down.
Well... the watch did transform on the first cast, though Jake couldn't see that it had straight away. It was only on further inspection did he realise that he now had a
compass on a watch chain.
"Cool," he said faintly, smiling and leaning back in his chair.
Whether or not it worked was a whole 'nother matter entirely.
