What had she done that had put her on the same level? Was it the pushing him to attend classes that he never actually went to anyway? Was it forcing cookies on him despite him taking them without asking?

Or…was it because of something that she feared would come to pass. Adam had mentioned that he was tired of her talking about Japan or how some things reminded her of her homeland. It was all coming back to her now. Flashes from the past of being tormented for being half, not pure Japanese. Was Adam suggesting that they lived too far apart? Hadn’t they finally found each other? Kurumi reached for the ring that she had hung around her neck. The ring that Adam had given her at the costume ball at the end of last term. Pulling it out from under her white blouse, Kurumi held the ring in her hand as the silver chain hung loosely. Cherry blossoms. How ironic. In her culture, the breathtaking but brief beauty of the blossoms symbolizes the transient nature of life. The flowers last for at most a few weeks, but during that time, both the mountains and the cities are full of the delicate pink flowers, be the trees wild or cultivated. Was that the case with her and Adam? Was their relationship really only meant to be, like the cherry blossoms, brief?

Kurumi found herself unable to keep the tears inside now. “Adam…” She felt her world turn white in an instant and she wasn’t sure where she was looking or not looking anymore. He was the one not making any sense. He was the one who had been in a relationship first. She hadn’t been looking for anything. For Merlin’s sake, she didn’t even think that she was going to make any friends. Finding her bearings again, Kurumi blinked herself back into this world and found herself looking directly into Adam’s eyes with hot tears forming in her own. “Yes,” she said firmly in response to his question. “Yes I did and I still do.” She wiped a few tears away with her sleeve. “If you think that breaking us apart is helping, then you are wrong. This is the time when we both need each other, Adam. You know it and I know it. We are both going through a lot of stressful things right now and I don’t have anyone that supports me the way you do.” Adam, on the other hand, seemed to have found someone he could talk to…he could just throw her away and be fine. There was no one she could turn to and tell all her feelings to. Not even Eino had earned that spot yet. “I don’t know what is going to happen once this term is over. We both know that we bring something that the other one lacks. We complete one another in ways that I cannot even begin to explain.” Kurumi was really choking back the tears now. “If you don’t feel that now, even with everything else that is going on…then I was wrong about you…then I really have made the same mistake I made when I was 6-years-old.”

Kurumi had to turn her back to Adam now and hide her face in her hands as she let the tears begin to flow.

If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together. There is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you…” she said in a low whisper. She was done pleading. Done trying to make Adam see that he was on the verge of giving up on her. She did always want to be his friend and she really cared for him. But now she felt like she was repeating her past. A part of her past that she never wanted to see again.

Just then, Momotaro began squeaking from inside her pocket. Kurumi collapsed to her knees on the ground and held the little pink creature in her hands. That color…that shade of pink…she may never see that color again…

Maybe SHE did have the sense. How would he go on without her, sometimes it got to be too much of a good thing- the part that had choked him, but in the end of the day, she understood him, even with all her uprising situations and killing family problems she always pulled through to the end.Adam was the one to make her feel more at ease, to make her understand things could and would get better- but both of them apart like this, it would kill them, in any way, like a leaf falling to the ground, to it's death. Right were a student mercilessly crunching on them. Was ADAM that student stepping on the leaf, the leaf that grew into something beautiful, learned life in it's way through the seasons, through hardships, like Kurumi?

Then she mentioned him being all these things he thought he wasn't and now hearing that, he felt the complete opposite. Breaking up with her was not the answer, but it wasn't clear what he should do.But she wanted to be with him, but why couldn't he not see that through his own eyes, he needed to know it coming from her. Maybe he felt better if someone directed him, what he should do in life, Kurumi seemed to be the epitome of that.

"I am not that same guy I was when we met at the Tie racks? Am I? I've changed for the worse...I don't know why...But you are making me realize I just made a mistake."He said in a rather touched way, that she had shown him the light.
