The letters to Reyn were supposed to be about her and her awfulness. So...it'd be pretty dumb of Ellie to tell her. And Ellie was no dummy. But she was distracted the previous night thanks to James, and had not written either of the letters.
But..."Moretti said she was writing to Car," she said quickly.
That had to be what Bishop was talking about. "Anyway, you said we were going to talk." So go on, chess piece. Talk. It had been a bit underhanded, letting her crup loose, but it seemed the puppy was still a bit undecided as to if the newcomer in the office was good for attention or not. Either way, by the time Renée had finished her rummaging, Bowie was still curled up on his bed, occasionally letting out a soft and questioning woof as his puppy eyes went between herself and Ellie. Thinking about it, she had to admit the puppy might have a good idea, and after giving him the slightest nod she took a seat in her desk chair before returning her attention to the redheaded Ravenclaw. It seemed her words had made some sort of impact, though, because the sulking had subsided into concentration.
"True. Healer Moretti did say she was planning on writing to Professor Carlton. I can't say that would be that strange, either, as that's what friends who can't be together do. Stay in contact, that sort of thing," she said neutrally. She knew Ellie knew what letter was actually being discussed, but she also imagined the girl didn't have any idea as to how she would know about it. Not to mention the letter she herself was thinking about writing, although she'd decided to wait a bit. See if she could make any progress without it.
"I believe I said we were going to move the conversation here. Not necessarily that I was going to talk," she clarified, as the challenge was made. She wasn't about to defend her taking a job that had been available somewhat before she'd been offered it. But at least if Ellie wanted to explain herself, there was a somewhat quieter locale for it to happen in, instead of at the feast.
