Releasing his hand she patted it once before diverting her eyes back to the Runes text in front of her. Then with a small sigh she shut that book. "What do you need to study?" she asked quite distractedly. She was always focusing on herself. She needed to stop being so selfish.

A small nod left him at her words, his throat too constricted to speak. Instead he watched her hand, biting his bottom lip as he tried to swallow everything back. He had thought he would be okay, that the pain would be less due to the time that had passed. But with the nearing of the Christmas season, with the topics that kept coming up, he found it was only the opposite.

He was therefore thankful when she switched the topic. Clearing his throat he shifted in his seat again, tracing the spine of the book closest to him. "Runes is fine..." Emotion still stained his voice, but he did his best to give her a small smile.
