When she asked about what Jake was reading the young man looked down at his own book and shrugged. "A book about people," he shrugged, putting it into the back he'd brought and pulling out another. Thinking back to what the girl had said about the lesson, Jake was quiet for a moment. "What did you have trouble with? Maybe I can help."
He'd like to. Jake wanted to show that just because he was big and slightly imposing now and used to be kind of rubbish with school, that he wasn't like that. He had a brain. "I got an O on my OWL," the young man added, as though to persuade her.
Emily raised her eyebrows.
"Uh, if you don't mind. Thanks"
She was slightly confused, but grateful all the same.
"I just don't understand what some of the runes mean... and why they're so important..." If you want people to like you mabye you should stop acting like an idiot and introduce yourself, Emily told herself
"I'm Emily by the way. And an O? Wow, my sister didn't get any O's. Just E's" Great, talk about family. That'll really interest them!
