*SNORRRTTT*
Oh goodness. "Sorry." He muttered to Sophie, trying to keep the laughter inside of him. Yeah, he wasn't going to laugh because he knew he could do much much worse. Alright so on to another rune...
The Gryffindor scanned through the runes and picked another one that seemed to benefit his liking. Okay, here was one. Algiz. Hmm, well he guessed he could put it on the wood. What it meant to him was that you are always protected from danger here at Hogwarts. "Intaglio, Algiz, algiz, algiz, algiz." He said pointing his wand at the wood while looking at his book to see if he was carving it correctly. One of the three stem things were a bit slanted to the side, but it looked alright he guessed.
Sophie saw the amusement in Sebastian's eyes as she had sneezed and damaged everything on her wood. She gave him a long pouting look before saying with a shrug of her shoulders.
"It's okay. It must have looked comical." The prefect could have imagined it did when somebody sneezed in the middle of an incantation. Looking at her wood piece she sighed heavily.
"It's totally damaged."
She glanced over at Sebastian piece of wood with a pin of envy going through her which she suppressed. It was her fault for sneezing at the worst timing not her Gryffindor housemate. Sophie glanced around the room as she waited for Professor Truebridge to come over.

"That's not bad for a start." Truebridge commented. "Good. Keep practicing."
"Can anyone explain what a 'galdr' is?".

Professor Truebridge came over and silently handed her a new wood piece. Beaming up at him she said simply
"Thank you, sir!" Closing her eyes she focused her attention on carving again. Opening them she said out loud
"Intaglio Wunjo wunjo wunjo wunjo wunjo!" This time the lines of the rune carved itself into the wood with care and precision. Producing a bite of smile across the Gryffindor prefect’s face she followed up her success with testing to carve the Thurisaz rune too.
The lesson moved on as the second method was introduced. Holstering her wand Sophie listened and thought about where she had read about galdr before. It was somewhere in her ancient runes textbook but she couldn’t put her finger on where.

As for the falsetto aspect, that is not strictly necessary but some find that it helps and many muggles who attempt the magic do it. You can combine different runes into one galdr to suit your purposes but for today we will stick with the one galdr per rune, much like the example given a moment ago with:
"fehu fehu fehu
f f f f f f f f f
fu fa fi fe fo
of ef if af uf
f f f f f f f f f."
He fell quiet and looked around the room, eyeing the fehu runes that were carved around the place, some of them appeared to glow slightly but that was to be expected as many of them he'd carved himself.
"Can anyone think of how a basic galdr like this is similar to the Intaglio spell method that we practiced with our wands?"
Sophie didn't wait long before many of her classmates provided a range of different answers to the question about galdr. But it was Professor Truebridge's definition that she wrote down on a parchment. So a galdr was a chant or spell like Intaglio but with a musical aspect since you had to sing a certain rythm to awake the magic in the rune. Sophie thought hard on the similarites between Intaglio and galdr but came up with only blank thoughts. She needed more time to think.
