After getting the necessary protective gear and donning it, he set to work on his piece of wood. Grasping his gingko wand and glad of the first real chance to use it, he muttered to himself, "Intaglio, Tiwaz, Tiwaz, Tiwaz..." As he carved the rune, he thought of the property he most wanted to summon, analysis. He liked knowing that there was a special rune for analysis, considering his own preference for in-depth research and the like (being a Chemistry buff). When the rune was completed, he moved on, "Intaglio, Mannaz, Mannaz, Mannaz..." He focused mainly on the duel properties of intelligence and creation, wanting to reiterate the fact that his intellect would help him create new things based on what he learned. Finally, he began again, "Intaglio, Othala, Othala, Othala..." With this rune, he focused his mind on the properties of acquisition and permanence, figuring that he knowledge he was enabling himself to acquire would only be really useful to him if it was permanent.

When he was done with his carving he smiled to himself, and looked around him at the other students either busy or finished as well.
