Emmy clambered up into the Owlery tower, and stood for a moment, breathing in the musty, heady scent of the owls. Gazing around the perches, she searched for her barn owl, Dapple.
"Come on, girl, where are you? Dapple!" she called softly over the constant rustle of feathers, and impatient flap of thousands of wings as the birds shuffled to get into better position.
Mr and Mrs Hudson would be returning to London today, and seeing as though Patroclus had left them in Cairo, the young Lion had thought it would be a good idea to send them a letter.
Having attached the letter to the School Owl, Patroclus took the bird to the window and launched it into the blue sky surrounding the tower, when he heard a familiar voice over his shoulder.
"Emmy!" The boy cried, turning around and cross the room to where his huffie friend was dealing with owls,
"How are you!?"
