Besides, he needed time to think. For more than one reason. He had a letter to respond to, and he had not figured out a response yet. "Renée." He spoke softly, almost apologetically. "If you'll excuse me, I think I should head to my office now." The feast had almost come to a close and he assumed she'd head to her office too, sometime in the next five or so minutes. "But I'd find it a pleasure to continue this conversation, later." The silence had started to take over Renée's thoughts, as it seemed other professors were stepping in when it came to Miss Skye. Even though she thought the girl had actually chosen to leave on her own, with her choice of not really paying attention it was possible she hadn't. That was the downside of letting things occur on their own, it seemed. However, as Jared responded to their conversation, she broke from her silence long enough to send him a glance and another smile. "Except for the fact the exceptions might find that insulting," she said, faint thread of amusement in her voice. She couldn't muster up much more at the moment, and as it was fell back into her silence again. It seemed the feast had taken a turn, but it also seemed to be over soon.
After a few more moments, though, she heard her name again. Softly, but it was there, and she turned to Jared questioningly. Even if she hadn't recognized the voice, he'd been really the only one she'd talked to, and therefore the only one who would refer to her by name. "Of course," she said, equally as softly. Maybe not as apologetically, but she wasn't the one taking their leave. "I'd love that. So, at a later time, then," she replied, finally working up another smile for him. At least it shouldn't be too hard to find each other later. She just hoped he'd manage to get the time to do the thinking he obviously needed to do, without interruption for more lovestruck students.
