Claire approached the Ravenclaw table, she was brimming with excitement as it was the beginning to her new life, her first year at Hogwarts. She marvelled at the enchanted ceiling as she passed groups of students talking about their holidays and about classes.
Claire spotted Emily and hurried over to take the seat beside her.
"Hey Em," she said enthusiastically as she helped herself to some food. The roast chicken looked particularly good, as did the basil pesto pasta.
"So classes start tomorrow", she added smiling in Emily's direction. "Ready to win the house cup this year?" she asked.
Emily smiled cheerfuly as her friend Claire sat beside her.
"Absolutely!, seriously that house cup has our name on it... and if not... I'll kiss a slytherin." Emily really didn't want to kiss a slytherin. She knew she would have to work extra hard this year, not just to win the house cup, but also to do well in her N.E.W.T.S examination. She hoped to start a good job at the Ministry next year, prefferably in the area of magical law enforcement. She had always wanted to be an auror like her father, though her mother wasn't too pleased with this idea.
"You excited for classes?" asked Emily as she glanced up at the staff table.
