Then again, he didn't know the man. Not enough. Not yet. Jared preferred not to suspect unnecessarily.
Her laugh caused him to smile lightly. She had a perpetual advantage there, an added perception, but it did not bother him. Felt fine, if anything. Their abilities, polar opposites, did balance each other in an odd sort of fashion. "Extreme sports," he offered. "It's always more fun if you might end up unconscious," he added jestingly. Renée was finding all the thougths about loopholes both interesting and exhausting. Keeping track of the many ways they could change things around, at least, havign gone back to her idle shallow use of her ability on Jared. The quick flicker of mental thought about the Ministry and Mr. Gevrik was intriguing though. There was definitely the possibility of that being way too accurate for comfort, if she thought about it herself. It certainly seemed people were always plotting an overthrow of the Ministry, really. She might not have lived in England recently, but she tried to stay aware of things.
She really didn't want to think another coup was going to happen. Not when it could actually affect her directly, as Hogwarts wasn't really entirely separate from the other institution.
Going back to the amusement of learning about each other was much needed, as it gave her reason to push thoughts about Mr. Gevrik and how he made her uneasy away again. Jared definitely didn't make her uneasy, and she accepted his smile with one of her own. She was caught, but it seemed he respected her advantage. It made things easier. Another laugh met his words, however. "Explaining the manticores, perhaps?," she teased. "I can't say I've ever been much for that. Massive danger, at least. A little makes things fun, though." Gave her more ideas for her writing, really.
But as a Slytherin girl approached Jared, she sat back quietly, a faint grin on her face as she heard the thought about mr. Gevrik and garlic. It seemed the focus on her had dimmed, so now she could watch. And she didn't need to look to tell what was going on with Miss Skye. It was fairly obvious, to her at least. She waited to see how Jared would field it all. Especially the new nickname. She knew enough French to understand that. This term was definitely going to be interesting . . .
