She smiled shyly, hoping he could forgive her.
Elyon saw him frown a bit when she mentioned Care of Magical Creatures. "What's wrong? Don't you like animals?" She really didn't care whether he did or not, she just wanted to see why he didn't seem to like them. "I love animals! It's one of my passions, to help nurse the sick and wounded ones back to health. I volunteered at a muggle animal shelter back home." She shrugged and smiled remembering how she found her kitty, Chunk.
"Transfiguration could be really useful too! I guess we'll learn as we go along, won't we?" She smiled, imagining herself using all sorts of crazy magic, getting into all sorts of shananigans. She figured she and Winston were pretty different, but thought they'd still be good friends. Winston nearly grinned. No, he actually did grin. His first grin at Hogwarts, as he got more comfortable and forgot that he was supposed to be impressing people. Elyon was praising potions. Yay! But what she said about the professor...that was a bit off-setting. "Not nice as in...a tough teacher? Or, you know...not nice as in she eats children?" he asked Elyon in a hushed voice.
He wrinkled his nose and shook his head slowly. "I only like well-trained cats. Otherwise, they're too dirty and smelly and rambunctious," he explained in what he hoped was a reasonably diplomatic way.
"Oh yes, about transfiguration." Winston at least partially agreed with the girl about transfiguration. They would learn as they went along. He disagreed about the usefulness, but that was fine. Quote:

How could it complain after she had already eaten a full meal and a dessert?
Wiping the remaining brownie crumbs from her fingers, Charisa put her head in one hand and leaned on the table with her elbow. She was getting thirsty now. Lifting her glass of pumpkin juice, she took a short sip. Ahh. Tiredness. Hopefully no one would notice if she... shut her eyes for a bit? Winston stared, aghast, at the girl who wolfed down a brownie, leaving crumbs everywhere. And her elbow was on the table. Did this girl have no manners? Winston sat up straighter, suddenly reminded that he was supposed to be the epitome of the perfect first year.
If such an oxymoron existed. |
