But mature sounded so dull. Like adults.
The young Gryffindor decided that she'd ponder over this mature business later, when she was only in the company of Prince Eric, her crup. "Well, thank you. I think it's 'cause I like reading the dictionary," Greer blatantly lied, instead of telling the truth--she often eavesdropped to the conversations adults had, and wrote down what she deemed as "big words" on her notepad. "But I prefer picture books." Now, that was true.
"Friends." He was asking to be friends. Friends. That was a difficult decision. For one, Greer didn't know how to have or make friends, unless you were Janie and Lulu. Second, he was a boy, and befriending him would be a BETRAYAL! towards her friends. And third, he was half-veela who made her stomach churn with all his dimples and smiling. MENACE!
Again, she tapped her bottom lip with her index finger. "I guess you'd have to not stuff me inside the nearest trunk and sell me to the nearest dodgy-looking person," Greer answered, honestly enough. "Being locked inside a trunk isn't cool. My brother did it it once to me because he wanted to be alone with his holes-filled and ink-stained girlfriend, and it was kind of creepy." Greer did not, by any means though, sounded sad or angry at the memory. "It was interesting, too, because I found a galleon. Ian isn't alllll that careful, you know? He's kind of a prat, my other brother Colby says."
Colby also called him other things, too, but Greer had been told not to repeat those. Apparently, Morgan said they were bad words and people would call her vulgar if she said them.
HMMM. An exhasperated, and very familiar voice reached Greer's ears and she was snapped out of her reverie--or staring at Sabel's dimpled smile, which was exactly what she'd been doing.
"Janie!" The blonde exclaimed, with a smile that carried a touch of embarrassment. The smile fell and her cheeks colored with a deep tint of scarlet when Janie noticed what Greer had been hoping she wouldn't notice, and without meaning to, she shot Sabel and apologetic look. Then she stood up, cupped her hands around her mouth and said in a tone low enough that wouldn't be caught by Sabel. Or so she hoped. "He's not a boy. He's half-veela." Duh! Wasn't it obvious after taking a looks the dimples and outstanding good-looks? It'd been for her.
Greer sat down again, and ignored Janie's rude comment. "Janie, this is Sabel Dakest. Sabel Dakest, this is Janie Hartford. He knows LOTS about you now." Yup, yup, yup. Quote:

Choosing to look for Greer first ( becuase let's face it, Greer would most likely be needing some company or rescuing by this point) Janie made her way down the tables, frowning when she'd reached the end of the Hufflepuff one. Where was Greer? Had she LEFT?
At that moment, Janie realized she heard Greer, being loud which...was normal. Sighing with relief, she followed the sound but was soon horrified to see just what predicament her friend had gotten herself into. " Greer. Greer." Janie marched up and ignored the brown haired boy who was talking to her erstwhile friend. " You do realize you're talking to...a boy." Janie looked highly affronted and...well. She didn't knwo what those other feelings were, or why they demanded to know just HOW Greer got this one's attention.
" What the heck are you smilin' at? " Janie demanded, rudely, of the boy who was grinning like he-- like he was up to NO GOOD. BOYS WERE JUST NO GOOD. "Well," Tapping his finger against his chin, he gave the pitcher of pumpkin juice a thoughtful look, "if you like dictionaries and picture books, encyclopedias are great." Lowering his hand he tilted his head at her. "Do you have any?" Because if she didn't, he had a few from home he would be bringing over for her.
He wasn't sure whether her repetition of the 'friend' word was an agreement or a statement of pondering, and seeing as how assumptions didn't seem to work well around Greer, he decided to leave the subject open to her discretion. Instead he refocused his attention on trying not to laugh at what most children would consider a tragic tale. Complete to her character though, her entrapment in the trunk seemed to be more of a learning experience than anything else. "I promise you, I won't lock you in a trunk." Unless it was absolutely necessary for her protection, but somehow making that distinction didn't seem to be a grand idea.
Especially not with the way another girl who had suddenly come up to them was looking at him. Someone that was bothering Greer? No, not by the way they whispered to each other. Sabel's eyes widened a little at the realization; another alternate copy of Greer. Except, rather unpleasant and unfriendly, especially with her attitude towards boys. It wasn't like it was something he could help.
Still, it was accusation towards him that had him tilting his head at her quizzically, the smile still in place. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was illegal to smile." Perhaps she should try it sometime and she wouldn't be so snappy. His eyes flicked to Greer for a moment as she offered introductions before looking back to this new girl, keeping in mind being polite was only practical. "Janie, it's a pleasure to meet you." May as well offer his hand in greeting too.
