Sophie was just about to look over at the Slytherin table after Evan when Adam drew her attention back to the table. Nodding she said "Yes, I’m a fifth year!" to answer his second question she took a few moments to place her words right. She watered her lips "You can get asked to become a prefect for your house by showing good leader qualities, being on top of your studies, being helpful to both other students and the school staff and in general being active in the school." She stopped talking to go over what she had just said. It sounded good but explaining to someone else why just SHE had become a prefect wasn’t the easiest. Why she had been chosen was though something only Madam Donovan could answer. Quote:

Arabella something was her name. Waving at the younger girl she called out "Hello, looking forward to the start of classes? You’re Arabella-Marie right?" At last she had grasped the fleeting name of the girl. Quote:

Emily sat down at the Gryffindor table and looked up and down it. She had lost Beth in a crowd of students, so Emily hoped to see her at the feast somewhere.
Emily looked at the other houses tables, then up at the staff table.
'Mabye Beth has gone to the wrong table' she thought. But Beth was not there.
Emily sighed then started to eat, alone. Sophie had kept an eye on the sorting process as another girl came over and sat down not too far from her looking a bit alone and lost. Catching the younger girls gaze she beamed warmly at her. "Hello, I’m Sophie one of the house prefects. Welcome to Gryffindor!" The repeated introductions would have been tiring for some but not for the brunette. Sophie felt right in her zone now that she was making good headway and eased troubles if only for a little by meeting them with friendliness and warmth. Quote:

A girl dressed in snake uniform come over and stood just looking at the Gryffindor table longingly it seemed. Sophie made eye contact and smiled warmly at her. "Hey, are you looking for someone?" If she was then the brunette would help out. If the girl had something else on her heart then Sophie would listen and if possible offer help and advice. Quote:

Where were all the people he had met in Diagon Alley? Now where were they? Ugh, this is what he hated about new schools. New people always got in the way, then again he wouldn't mind finding a new friend or two to talk to right about now instead of sitting here like a loner. So many new people!
Sophie had just turned to pour herself a new glass of pumpkin juice when an older boy sat down at the table right next to her. Still holding pumpkin juice bottle in hand she asked "Would you care for some juice while we wait for the headmaster’s speech?" Pouring her glass full of the cold and delicate juice Sophie added as a way of introduction. "I’m Sophie. Gryffindor prefect and you are?" Quote:

Her fellow prefect greeted a first year which she guessed he must have spoken to on the train. Hearing his reference to her she called out "Hey, Evan! Thanks for the compliment. You don't look too halfbad yourself." She gave him a wink before eavesdropping on the conversation he had with the new Gryffindorette. Evan was trying to convince the first year that his house was better. Sophie waited for the younger girl's next response to see if she needed to cut in or not.
