How could you prove something didn't exist? By proving the existence of facts that claimed otherwise. And there were no facts. "I...personally? I haven't seen them, and I've been around mistletoe, I mean, we all had, eventually, no?" because the Castle was always filled with that during Christmas time, and no, he didn't mean for mistletoe to the be the main issue here, but..., "I've never seen anything around mistletoe, seriously," unless boys and girls are Nargles gathered around mistletoe, but that was not the case, "Unless, they're like Thestrals, and that would explain why I can't see them," nor had he had any of belongings lost in the Common Room, perhaps it only happened to the ones staying up there on the Seventh Floor? So, Nargles don't like the grounds. And the Hufflepuff Common Room was by the Kitchens, therefore, no Nargles.

Pogrebins? "No, no, it says here that you can see them, though not as clearly as one could see an owl, for sure," sooooo, yeah, no Pogrebins. And she should think of less creepy creatures, by the way.

But, oh, she was probably thinking something was up, since his stance had changed and he was blocking her view of Salander. He wasn't falling for that. "I doubt it, Kurumi," but, really, was there a Nargle around?

Vashti had noticed too, about Salander, and in reality one always needed to worry whenever the Wizarding world started to talk about the Statute of Secrecy. Always. Worry. Yes. But Treyen didn't feel the need to worry about it. Unless Fletcher was involved, in which case Treyen would've already found out and would be fighting right by his side, or trying to get him out of whatever trouble he managed to get into.

He looked at her before glancing at the paper again. And now she was helping someone else?

See, no need to worry about the Statute, just worry about the girl who dropped the candy.

Kurumi's thoughts of research and mystery calmed down when Treyen began listing off other magical creatures and almost forgot about her desire to take a peak behind him when...
Even if she wasn't actually part of the discussion on nargles, Vashti was definitely listening, and suddenly one of the comments Treyen made caught her curiosity. "Thestrals. They're only visible to those who've seen death, right?" She was pretty sure that was right. "So if nargles - if they're real, of course - if they're like Thestrals in that they're invisible to most people, what would a person have to do or to witness to see them, do you think? Would it be death, or something else?" Perhaps it was a random thought, and it was really mostly hypothetical since she was pretty sure nargles didn't exist, as she'd never heard about them in any CoMC lesson, but it was interesting to think about, wasn't it? Because what if, by some small possibility, they actually were real? Wizards couldn't possibly know about every species of animal that ever existed, could they?

And besides, continuing the subject on nargles would keep the conversation from wandering back to the Statute of Secrecy that everyone seemed so unsettled over.

It's so crowded here, I couldn't get through" she said, and realised that her candy was still on the floor. She hastily bend down and scooped it up into her arms.
Vashti nodded, still smiling. "It is rather crowded, isn't it?" she agreed. "I guess a lot of the students like pumpkin pasties and licorice wands." And the other candy that was on the trolley too, but she certainly wasn't going to just name them all. It would take ages. "Do you need help with any of that?" she asked as she saw the girl hurry to scramble up the candy she'd dropped. The corridors could be quite crowded too at times, and she didn't know if the girl had found a compartment yet or not. Trying to wander the crowded corridors with candy in your arms and searching for a compartment was not very helpful for preventing even more embarrassing.

He shifted around the trolley and made his way towards the others, walking directly behind Treyen-- who didnt seem to make any motions of turning to say hello. Or even acknowledge that he was around. What the hey? At least Vashti saw him. "Hey wazzup Vashti?" he nodded at the Ravenclaw girl, then shifted his eyes behind Treyen's head and back to her again Whats with him? he was trying to say silently.

Or was it a pride? A gang perhaps? Kurumi looked back and forth between the two and noted that they seemed to get along as well as a boggart did with a wizard.

"H-H-Hi Salander," she waved cautiously. Treyen's blinding smile seemed to have fizzled out at the moment.
Oh, and now Salander was coming over.

"Hey, Salander," Vashti replied with what she hoped was a friendly smile. Noticing his glance towards Treyen and assuming the question he was trying to imply, she wracked her brain for a way to answer without having to actually explain it all out loud. Finally she just decided on unfolding the Quibbler in her hand so he could see what it was then she raised an eyebrow and shrugged as she glanced briefly at Kurumi and Treyen, as if to say, This thing's making them a bit uneasy. Which mostly it was Kurumi who hadn't liked the Quibbler, but Salander had appeared to ask only about Treyen, so she had to connect the Hufflepuff into it somehow.
