What in the name of Merlin is that supposed to mean?
"Er...that's cool." Axe said running his hand through his hair. He felt rather old all of a sudden. Quote:

But Jake was cooler.
Though his jaw dropped. His dad really knew how to do birthdays. "Shut. Up," he said, smiling slightly.
Wicked. "Oh... I've been meaning to ask you. You have those contacts in the music business, right?"
Jake picked up on the question Reese asked and he kind of looked between the two, his face falling a smidge. He was quiet for a bit and then added, "It's been a terrible year."
Hopefully Reese would get the HINT that this was a subject Jake didn't want discussed at his party. He was already getting overwhelmingly jealous, not of the attention his dad was getting... but that the man was sharing his attention out. Still, he tried to hide it and went about his happiness. Marcus burst out laughing at the look on Jake's face. He didn't even know what the presents were or where they were going but he still looked extremely excited.
"Of course I do." He raised his eyebrows at his son. "You thinking about going into the business?" He knew that the boy could sing. And sing really well. "We'll talk about it after the party."
Marcus decided to just ignore the whole business of what had happened. Today was not the day to talk about it. Quote:

She was doing very indeed, well at least she would be if Seth would hurry up along and get in here.
"And yourself?" She did feel a bit bad about asking, but it was the mannerism so? She had too. She did giggled a little though, as he bent down to talk to Gracie. He was good with kids, no wonder he'd been a good teacher. Gracie giggled as she snuggled against her mommy. There were lots of big people around, and she was feeling a little scared. Oooh. She remembered this man....kind of. It was a bit fuzzy, but then she was only two. "Hello." She giggled, waving a hand at the man, who was talking to Mommy. "I'm Grace." Yeah. She was cute. Hmmm. Vannie needed to give Jakey his present. She smiled at Marcus. "Well I better go say hello to the birthday boy." She smiled, before turning away from Marcus, and over to Jake. "Hey Jakey...happy birthday." Now....she just kind of needed to get another arm so she could give him the present. ahh. problems. "I guess you already know the answer to that question Vanessa." Marcus shrugged his shoulders. "But I'm getting there." Of course he had been mentally preparing himself for when Iliana showed up because of course she was going to be here and there was nothing he could do to avoid it.
Grinning at the young child, Marcus ruffled her hair again. "Nice to meet you Grace." His gaze shifted back to Vanessa and he nodded. "No probs. No doubt we'll see each other again before the party is over." Quote:

Anyway, she'd made her way through the ice cream parlour, gift in hand. She was always bad at buying people presents, even her own family, so had no idea if he would like it or not. Nervously tugging on the rubbishly tied bow, having no idea why she wrapped the thing when it was more a voucher than anything, Sarah pushed open the door and entered the room. It was filled with alot of people, only a few of whom she recognised.
Spotting her favourite teacher chatting, Sarah smiled and made her way over to him. "Hello, Mr Lawson, nice to see you. Is Jake around? I've got a gift to give him." She grinned and got on tip toes to have a squizz at the surrounding area. There he was. "JAKEEEEEEE!!!!" Yeah, ear plugs might have been needed at that point. Yes this was going to be a Hogwarts reunion. Marcus smiled at Sarah. "It's nice to see you too Sarah." He was just about to direct her to where Jake was when she seemed to have found him on her own. And Merlin did that girl have a set of lungs on her. Quote:
"Ok, Marcus." SO WEIRD. Reese kept saying 'Marcus' over and over again in her head, hoping that it will stick in there and she won't end up calling him 'Professor Lawson'. Knowing this woman, she would end up calling him Professor again. That was okay, though. She knew he would forgive her because he was awesome like that.
She sighed when he patted her shoulder. "Actually, yes. I went into the music business after I graduated butttttt," oh what I story she had to tell but she was just going to keep it simple, "I got mad at the manager and started an argument, broke my wand, and left. Never went back after that." Her mind traveled back to the talk her and Lawson had a few years ago and then she said, "Didn't we talk about being a cursebreaker?" Ha, like she had gotten the grades for that.
She frowned. "I'm sorry to hear that," she replied. "I do hope things get better for you."
Marcus gave Reese an amused look. "Managers tend to do that. If you are still interested in the music business then I can help you out if you want?" Since he was actually now back in it himself. He could get her what she needed but of course she would have to learn to control her temper.
"Yeah I hope things get better too." He said with a shrug." Quote:

Well there was no way Marie was going to let this party go by without making an appearance at it even though he didn't come to her party last summer... the party that was given for her by HIS dad at THEIR house.
Walking into the party she was a bit surprised to see that there were actually people there. Eh, they were probably there for the free food... or to harass the boy like she planned on doing.
Looking around it didn't take her long to spot Jake standing there with his dad. Oh this was going to be perfect. She started to walk over towards him when she seen... Evelyn? Whoa, she didn't expect to see her there. She would definitely have to talk to her... AFTER she messed with Jake that is. "Happy birthday big brother, I see you finally got some friends." she said as she walked up behind Jake and right over to Lawson... whom she gave a big hug to. "Hey dad, how's it going?" Okay so Jake wasn't her big brother and Lawson wasn't her dad... she knew though that this was a way to really get Jake going. He had already accused her of trying to steal his dad so why not make him think she had.
She'll teach that boy to never throw bottles at her head again. Quote:

Especially if you don't want the blame later on when Jake added 2 and 2 together to make 5 and 'found' the problem with his home.
He knew the voice and stiffened. Big brother? Dad?!
But it was the hug that really got to Jake. He stared, eyes going wide and pulse racing. "What?!" he nearly bellowed, so SOOOOOOO close to hexing Marie that his wand was WAITING to fly into his hand. The young man looked to his dad and then to Marie. This was too much... way too much.
He would curse her to kingdom come one day. "Dad?" Jake said in a low and dangerous voice, talking to his father but still glaring at Marie.
That was one thing you just didn't do... Quote:
"Excuse me," she spoke. "Hey, I'm Reese Upstead. Jake's sister. Um, yeah, it's nice to meet you." NOT. "First of all, you don't need to comment about how many friends Jake has. Just in case you cannot count, there's a least 10 people here... and the party hasn't even begun yet. Second of all..." She should REALLY shut her mouth right now but... "You just need to back off of him, okay? Because obviously, you aren't cool enough to be Jake's sister or Marcus's daughter."
Right, now all that made her hungry. Did this party have any chocolate frogs?
He had just been thinking about heading over and grabbing himself a drink when he heard Marie's voice. Which was a shock in itself that she was actually here. But the words she spoke caused Marcus to groan. Loudly.
There would never, ever be a peaceful day when these two were in the same room. He didn't need to see the look on Jake's face or to hear the dangerous tone in his voice.
"I'm on it." He said grabbing Marie by the arm but then Reese decided to throw her two sickles worth in and he sighed deeply. "I said I've got it. There is no need to jump all over each other. This is supposed to be a happy day." He looked between Jake, Reese and Marie before dragging the blond across the room.
It was going to be a long day, wasn't it?
