| Matt Lanter/The Dark Side/Anakin Skywalker/ Underland/Hookah Smoking Caterpillar Thanks Emily! Here's the next part! Jaxon walked back home in silence. He kicked the gravel every now and then, and bit his lip thoughtfully. What did he think of the girl? What did his parents think of the girl? Jaxon thought everything over. He had barely even known Coralie for a day, and he had already found himself liking her. More than liking her, in fact.
When he arrived back at his house, his mum was fixing the broken faucet.
“Addy’s off to bed.” she said with her back turned.
“Ok,” replied Jaxon. He didn’t know what he was replying to; he was deep in thought.
“Don’t worry about her, Jaxon. Everything will get cleaned up soon.”
“What gonna happen to him? To Mr. Davids?” he asked hesitantly.
“Well,” Mrs. Smith turned around to look at her son. Her hair was wet as well as the front of her apron. “You’ll have to ask your father about that. He’ll probably get a few years in Azkaban though.”
“And Coralie? She certainly can’t stay with her brothers.”
“I don’t know.” she said, “Wait ‘til your father gets home, then ask him. No go to sleep, it’s getting late.”
Without another word, the boy stumbled up the stairs. Coralie didn’t know what time she woke up. The candles had burned out sometime ago, and the girl was left in pitch blackness. She stumbled out of bed, groped for her boots, then stood up and stretched.
For the past sixteen years, the cellar has served as her bedroom, so she knew everything well. She heard something clatter to the floor, and within a moment she realized it was the journal she had fallen asleep with. Dropping to the floor, she found the small, leather bound thing, then clutched it to her stomach as she walked up the steps. Coralie tried the door, but it was still locked.
A light glow was protruding from underneath the door. Coralie heard the voices of her brothers, and their footsteps.
It was good that the girl had a nice dinner the previous night. Who knows when her brother’s were finally going to let her out. She thought about yelling, but paused before she did anything. It would be better if they didn’t know, she thought.
If Coralie’s brothers knew she was up, they would be quick to question her about the previous night’s events. She wasn’t ready for that yet.
Sliding down the door, she sat at the top of the stairs.
Who knows how many hours passed. The girl sat in silence, thinking. She stared into the darkness.
Everything that she had seen, had experienced, tumbled through her mind. What would she do now that her mother was dead and her father most likely in jail? She had no other living relatives, save for her brothers, and she definitely did not want them to become her legal guardians. What about Jaxon?
The girl found herself daydreaming about the boy and his family. He was sweet to her. And he didn’t care about her being a squib. Coralie smiled. He accepted her, and she liked that about him.
Suddenly the door was opened and she toppled backwards onto the floor. K, Leave your replies!
