"Once upon a time, in a magic land, lived an old king…"
"No, no…..thats not how you tell a story, Granddad ." spoke up eight year old James Sirius Potter.
Severus Snape's eyebrow rose questioningly . "Really? I thought thats how all fairytales started." the older wizard commented.
"I don't wanna listen to some sappy fairytale." the boy pouted; crossing his arms.
"Fairy's have tails?" his youngest sibling, Lilly Luna asked to no one on particular. as she sat next to Snape on the large couch in her parent's home.
Albus Severus laughed.
Snape smiled. "I don't know, child, perhaps some do."
"Granddad, tell us a story with bunnies." Lilly asked; looking up sweetly at Severus.
Snape nodded and reached for his cup of tea on the side table next to him..Snape had mixed the potion he had to take daily to stave the remaining venom in his body.
It was a miracle that he was still alive, he had luckily had an antidote for Nagini's venom with him. The Snake's poison worked fast though and he had almost succumbed.
he had been weakened, and still had bought s of weakness from time to time. Taking a series of potions everyday and his weakness was a small price to pay for the life he now had.
"Yeah." James exclaimed. "one where a pack of power hungry bunnies take over the wizarding world. They trap everyone in cages and make us eat only carrots and lettuce…."
Lilly gasped and snuggled closer to the former spy.
Severus sighed as his "grandson" prattled on. "James, don't scare your sister."
James yet again pouted.
Albus wondered why all the adults were not inside the house.
"Granddad Severus, where are mummy and Daddy?"
Snape didn't want to tell the children that they were hiding the Easter eggs out in the backyard.
"well." the wizard said coming up with a little white lie. "They are making sure the Easter bunny can find the house alright."
"is the Easter bunny coming with Aunt Hermione and Uncle Ron?" asked Albus
""perhaps." the man stated, pinching the bridge of his nose. Severus was starting to feel weak again and drank more of his tea.
"May I finish my story if thats alright?"
The children nodded and Snape started his tale again.
"As I was saying, once upon a time there was an old king living in a castle. He had an adopted son and three beautiful grandchildren.."
Just then harry, dressed in a bunny suit came running into the room. "happy Easter!" he exclaimed
The children jumped up happily."
"who wants to hunt for the eggs I've hidden?"
"we do!" the three shouted
"well then follow me." he hopped away with James and Albus behind him.
Severus chuckled at his adopted son's antics.
"Granddad?" Little Lilly said standing in front of him.
"will you hunt Easter eggs with me?"
Snape nodded and kissed the girl on the cheek.
"I would love to, princess." He stood, downed the rest of his tea and took her hand.
"wait Granddad, what about your story? what happened to the old king and his family?"
Severus Snape smiled down at his "granddaughter."
"well Lilly" he replied "they all lived Happily ever after."
